I refuse to shop anywhere items are not priced. You know they decide what the cost is when they size you up. Nope, I just leave. I don’t have that much time to go back and forth for pricing

I hate when a shop has no prices...not only is it annoying to have to keep asking the price but I always feel that the vendor looks you up and down before deciding what they think you will be prepared to pay for something...try and look poor Karen...then you may get a good deal!!

@Tangela Ross when purchasing a car you have to know what all the packages cost. You should be able to pay way less then the price marked on the car. My late husband was great at this. He shopped until he bought the car we wanted for $4000.00 less than marked.

The wool runner you show at 10:00 is from the Central Asia region (one of the "stans", or Turkey?). It was hand knotted and it looks like it is in really good condition. Originally, many were tribal pieces designed and made by nomadic people. But this looks like it's not old, due to its fab condition...so it was probably made for resale.

My opinion (which is not worth anything!) is that if you're going to have a retail establishment, you owe it to your prospective customers to price the items you're selling. With so much inventory, it's a gradual process that may take you a very long time to do, but it's considerate to your buyers.

Aisles around the round racks a looking tighter, as you pulled those 7 eastor items. That’s the thing about the roundclothing racks, as you make space for Roger. Back when I used them, I liked the way the frames quickly folded out and were held with the upper ring, but walking around them takes a lot of room. Eventually, as my inventory grew, I sold off the round style in favor of linear racks that were narrower. I set them up to have shelves above and/or below the clothing rods. Above only for long garments, both for short garments.
@lavenderclothesline
@lavenderclothesline Год назад
My round racks hold 2X more that a single straight rack and theyre sturdier.
@brianhenry2385
@brianhenry2385 Год назад
@@lavenderclothesline True your round racks do hold a lot (I've had them) , but they are also 2.5 times wider then what is needed to put the width of a garment on a rod because of the center void. You also sacrifice aisle space on all 4 sides to access a round rack. Round racks are also only one garment tall, so all the height above them represents a lot of "wasted space", that could store double what a single height rack does (clothes, bins or packing material). About the only real advantage they have over double stacked linier is mobility, to clean under them. For many years, when I served on a submarine, I got very good at "creating" more storage space. As you pack more into the basement, the space will get tighter and the number and size of the aisles will suffer. Think of the basement as a cubic volume and any place where a rack is only 4-6 feet tall may have wasted space above it. Too many aisles is also a trade off - better access for less volume. I would never suggest those flimsy linier racks that collapse easily, but if you go with commercial quality or even build racks along a wall, you can build them from floor to ceiling and attach them to be very sturdy. Of course, built in racks trade off mobility for strength. With straight racks, built against the wall, you can double stack the height for shirts and coats and depending on your ceiling height, may even fit in a short shelf above to hold surplus packing material or boxes. You can also build in a lower shelf to hold even more small items (packing boxes, etc) under the lower row of clothes. Personally, I like rolling Metro style wire racks, but against my walls are taller racks without wheels that allow me to stack to ceiling. I eventually had to give up my round racks, because I needed better aisle arrangement and couldn't waste the space above them. Now, if they made a double tall round rack (or a round rack, with upper shelves), that would be a true space saver. :)
@brianhenry2385
@brianhenry2385 Год назад
@@lavenderclothesline I started dealing with clothing racks and storage in the mid-70s as a 15 year old. I took a job working nights and weekends for a store (sort of like a Walmart) and worked about 35 hours a week unloading Semi-trucks to set up the Women's department for the grand opening, then worked there for about a year. Most of the garments came in big boxes, but were already on hangers, so we'd pull them out and hang them on big rolling racks for transport out to the floor. We used story single height racks, made something like modern Z racks. They were about 6' long and rolled out loaded and never collapsed. Most of us don't have the luxury of fully outfitting our storage area with premium matching shelves and bins. Storage systems, when bought retail are simply too expensive. We add them piece meal, in an ad-hock fashion as we need more storage and the items become available. Sometimes, even when you want to expand and stay uniform, you go back to the store and find they're out of stock or have changed their inventory, so you end up buying something different anyway. Over the years I've bought most of mine at auction, when commercial stores are closing or someone is upgrading theirs and surplussing the old ones. My dollar goes further that way. But, when I can't find what I need on the secondary market, I sometimes build my own, or modify what I can get to suit my needs and maximise space. But maximizing space and maintaining good access always seem at odds with one another as space gets cramped. It ends up being a compromise. You and Roger are at a point where your space merger will require a real reassessment of the layout in your basement and will likely need to use a combination of stock and custom racks and shelving to maintain that great space you shown us in your videos. Looking forward to seeing the result. :)

Caviar beads look like fish roe, I’d you’ve ever seen it raw, pulled out of the fish. Caviar and Roe are fish eggs.

Correct! I've recently heard "Corde" beads.

@@lavenderclothesline I wonder if "Corde" relates to Corduroy, since corduroy has that raised "cord" texture.

When my oldest son was in Afghanistan doing Army Ranger secret stuff he had to learn all kinds of things about those rugs as a part of his mission. Certain patterns and yarns would be the signature of the families that made the rugs. That's about all I know, but that rug looks more authentic than most to me. My son ended up buying many rugs and would tell me stories about the patterns in the rugs for hours.

I just loved that beaded purse. It reminds me of a purse my mom or my aunt had in the 60s! I can't remember now who had that beaded purse...Wow how time flys! 👛 Great video..lots of fun!

I learned that the Roseville Pottery mark has variations, depending on the potter.

I look for the satin glaze, color of glaze and flowers specific to Roseville, also.

I had grocery delivery this morning & am a little late to your video. It seems that you made some excellent profits on 'sold' items. I don't particularly enjoy asking for prices if a shop is quite busy but I will deal with it!! What I dislike is when I am asked 'What would you offer me for this item?' That's when I might walk? The hexagon tile from Greece is amazing. So many choices! Have a wonderful trip to Connecticut to do your stock pick-up! Driving in the car always helps me think my thoughts through!
