Today I share my secrets for how I score such cool thrift store hauls. Keep up with me at: Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok: @deadchupacabra Email: deadchupacabra@gmail.com My band: Instagram: @brainfarmband
Go through your own wardrobe first, see what you actually wear all the time and why, what you avoid and why, before you start buying stuff see what you can do with what you already have. When you thrift, be honest about how much modification you’re actually willing to do
I love the little speech at the end about not letting corporations take our style. It's wayyy too true the amount of people I see that buy mass made prepatched clothes is wild. The whole point in my mind is to make your thing unique. Even if they're ugly like man you made it.
I too love stealing things from my dad. My 2 favorite things I've stolen from him are his thermal flannel (that ironically I was adding patches to while watching this) and his ratty nirvana shirt :)
i found an invader zim shirt, a monster energy drink shirt, and a kickass illuminati lookin shirt from the salvation army by a stroke of luck. keep looking guys youll find what youre lookin for !
search in all sections!! i found a shit ton of cool jackets in the men’s and i assure you that the women’s side has a lot of cool patterns you can cut out from shirts, blouses and other tops. i’ve also found my vest from the overalls sections and detached the bottom half from the top.
So many of my favourite clothes are from family, my parents and their friends are/were pretty punk so i have three studded belts, two chokers, a spiked wristband and some cord necklaces from them - i also stole one of my dad's jumpers and three t-shirts and they're my favourite clothes, the t-shirts are so cool, they make me look more androgynous which is awesome and one of them is pretty rare vintage now :)
I have been making my own clothing since I was 10 They were trash but i wore them till they became dust. One of my favorite DIYs I made the past two years is my bone skirt. It started out as an ugly floor length denim church skirt and I turned it into a demon huntress cami skirt. Were the sides are open for my legs and two equal length flaps are in the front and back. I took a long piece of dyed red canvas and sewed like 60 something 3D printed bones to it. I wear that shit anywhere even grocery shopping. So like you are saying it takes time to look at a pretty plane piece of clothing and comfortable have ideas for it.
I like to buy clothes based on what outfits I can make with them, this limits over buying clothes and it makes thrifting much easier. You can also look in the old men's/women's sections for old clothing/run down stuff. Same with men's clothing as you can find some nice band shirts/flannels. Also some jewelry at thrift shops is really cool!
youtube stopped recommending your vids and im stupid so i literally just forgot- i was vibing to some siousxie and the banshees as i so often do, and i asked myself how i got into them and immediately was just like “oh yeah obviously dead chupacabra… OMG DEAD CHUPACABRA!!” yeppp hi again
I really like you posters dude your room looks awesome but I have one question where can I hear you bands music at? Like is it on Spotify or on another platform? Also thanks for the thrifting tips.
Yay for Flannels lol and yes I get to look often at the op shop, multiple times a week if I'm up for it and you do have to spend good time searching in their!
