I am so glad that you are advising new collectors not to throw anything away. When I was new to collecting, I threw away so much and later regretted it. I now have a box that I put unknown items in. Your advice is on point.

Thank you so much for all the great tips Sue! Another source for vintage dolls is Doll Shows..I got several really nice Barbies and clothes from a few dealers that were downsizing. Got great deals on them too. Love your makeover of that doll with the pink fur coat and hat. So pretty! My favorite sources are still thrift stores and flea markets because I mostly buy naked dolls and I make new clothes for them. My grand daughter just told me she saw packs of Barbie shoes and sunglasses at the Dollar Tree. Gotta check that out tomorrow!!

I like that approach, don’t feel guilty, they had an opportunity to look it up. The key is in the knowledge! If you know, you know. Lol.

I started collecting bc I went to an Estate sale and the previous owner had everything that just spoke to me! I found an 87 Skipper there and fell in love w dolls. We have a local antique mall and found a peppermint princess Barbie still in her box- theyre great places! Love your channel thank you so much for making videos and making me smile :D

I wish we had more flea markets/ boot sales near where I live, I love them because you can get some really great dolls for much cheaper than EBay prices♥️

I personally love buying dirty dolls. I love cleaning and fixing them up. Plus they cost less than the clean ones😂👍❤

Sue this video is incredible. I’ve finally gotten to a place in my collection where I have a few valuable dolls thanks to your tips, and have felt remorse and guilt for asking better prices on those dolls, but have been surprised when I bring them to the register and they ring them up for a lower price or they tell me if I pay in cash they won’t charge me sales tax, if I’m buying a NIB doll that has a little bit of damage or package rot i dont haggle because I know I’m taking them out of the box. My AA crystal Barbie was new in box had been stored in a basement at one point and the basement got flooded and the bottom portion of her box was water damaged and she was only $37.50 what a steal right! I took her up to the owner of the store to check out and she looked at me and said oh I have never seen a guy come in here and buy Barbie, and sold her to me for $24. I’ve gone back to her store so many times now that we actually have a friendship forming and will tell me to go through the store one more time to see if anything screams buy me, and i usually find stuff that hasn’t been priced yet and have to play the waiting game but now she just brings her phone out and calls the booth owner in front of me. The other store I go to has a higher price point so I limit how much I buy from them, I have only made 4 purchases from them with the latest being my original brunette Midge, with her swimsuit and pamphlet, with a couple of fashions that were definitely bought alongside along with her, my Suzy goose closet full of little treasures including the color magic curlers and a sun lovin Malibu skipper I spent $350 on it all I did feel really bad about it but after watching this video makes me feel better about it, the owner has now said anytime he sees us he will try and give a discount in the future which will come in handy for the very rare and over priced dolls they have left in the cabinet (only 7 left before there’s no more Barbie)

Hi!! I've recently rediscovered my Barbie love!! 10 years ago for my daughter's Sweet 16, her "court" was made up of Barbies, in ball gowns I made!! Her theme was Coca Cola n Pepsi, it was really fun!! All the girls got to take Barbie home, I had made 20!!! Well, I'm back at it for fun!! I purchased 22 Barbies on fb marketplace in the last 2 weeks....I gave up thrifting for Lent, so come on Easter!!!! Lol!! Thxs for your video!! New subbie here!!✌🏽♥️

Excellent video Sue! I agree with all of the wonderful points you made. We did not do well recently by buying a counterfeit OMG LOL doll in San Francisco's Chinatown. The packaging was exactly like the real thing..but not the contents. Buyer Beware of these Blind Bag type of dolls. Loved those Kiddles and congrats on the Talking Barbie head. She is lovely. I still have mine from Christmas 1970. Such a shame that Mattel fell short on the body quality because they are beautiful Barbies. I had to super glue mine's arm years ago..but she is still so beautiful. She still talks a bit..very guggled. Cute to add Disney toys to those girls. Mod Girl

Hi, love your videos. Started collecting Barbies in Jan. This year. Been collecting dolls for 5 years. Started 5 years ago doing repaints of Bratz which to repaints of Monster High dolls, loved the MH dolls and started collecting them. I bought lots of my dolls which sometimes included Barbie’s. I gave the Barbie’s to thrift shops thinking they weren’t worth anything. Stupid. Anyway, one day I paid $16 for a bag of Barbie’s with 2 MH dolls. There were 10 Barbies, I thought will even if made $1 on eBay for each Barbie that reduce the cost I paid to get the Monsters. To my surprise I was clearly $5 to 8 on the dolls and 2 were Mermaid Dolls that were going for $30+ on eBay. Wow! So, I enjoy cleaning up the dolls. They look so pretty once cleaned and extra care and style for hair. So now, I’m collecting and selling Barbies. I also paint, reroot, and sew for my dolls. There’s so much to learn with Barbie, I’m having fun adding her to my doll hobby. I also collect Blythe, Pullips and Robert Tonner Dolls. I have to some dolls to buy more dolls, like you. Thanks for your content it’s informative and fun.
