@@lilybond6485 They were huge. But did not transcend to the international AND multigenerational appeal that Michael has. He started in the 70's and will still get you tapping your foot when he comes on the radio.
Seriously, I've been going through my "Favorites" list and keep seeing videos with annotations asking me to 'rate' the video. Is a "Favorites" list still a thing with new accounts?
@Antonio Luna u don’t know that for a fact ur making an assumption so I can’t necessarily believe you completely. Either way to say someone can love them guilty or not, they didn’t just exclude all the rapists and murderers and say they only love the drug pushers the person said guilty or not they still love them which means all of them regardless of what they’ve done and thats pretty bad not knowing what some inmates may have done which could just be paid actors in this. I doubt u could get inmates who commit serious crimes to want to be in a dancing video.
I was 8 years old when this came out I remember my dad showing it to me. And it stuck with me for some reason. and for some reason it's taken me ten years to figure out that the "woman" is just a dude in drag.
I've watched this when I was like 10 around 6 years ago, and I never noticed that either. Damn, shows you that type of shit is the last thing to ever hit a kid's mind. Or at least it was, till Drag Queen Story Hour and shit like that became a thing
Arturo It isn't a show like RuPaul's Drag Race where it's open for more mature channels, but instead an event held by libraries where they hire Drag Queens to read books dealing with identity crises to children aged 3-11, so they begin to develop one of their own. It was first started 4 years ago in San Francisco by an activist named Michelle Tea, who hopes this will 'inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others' according to the PBS Newshour. As expected from this alone, she is also an author, as she writes stories based on queer culture, feminism, race, class, prostitution, and other topics as well. In shorter terms, she writes about politically correct bs that only a liberal will adore. With this little spew in mind, Michelle Tea and those who condone such hours should be the ones hung. And not only them, but anyone who writes books of these sort directed towards children who don't have the type of mind to fully understand such topics.
Michael Jackson saw this and he loved it!! Thank u God he was alive to see this amazing tribute! Nine years without Michael! We miss you terrible! Love u!
@@michaelmora7520 Michael Jackson is not a pedophile idiot he was proven innocent in 2005 the people who say he is a pedophile made that for money do you have proof?
this is just incredible. i would think this is the best therapy for any prisoner, no matter what they did. If they can CO-OPERATE in making this amazing video, then they CAN get along in this world without committing crimes. May God be with them as they work to clean up their precious lives. Don't forget to keep on dancing! :)
Holy Moses there's only one thing i do not like about this video. In MJ's real Thriller scene, the ghouls did NOT actually attack the girl!!!! Michael woke her up from her bad dream at the end and NO ONE had laid a hand on her. It was all her dream and MJ saved her from any more terrors. THEREFORE, I wish you would shorten this video and leave out that awful part of attacking the girl!!!!! Just a thought. MJ wouldn't like that part of this scene...I'm sure of it. It would break his heart to see it.
Holy Moses I agree with you. I believe in god but not in the christian sense. if they can perform that together then you and i can definitely co-exist despite me being wiccan.
Holy Moses "When we say study, it means work,When we say work, it means money, When we say money, it means spending When we say credit, it means debt, When we say debt, it means bailiff, We agree to being in deep sh*t When we say love, it means kids, When we say forever, it means divorce. When we say family, we say grief, because misfortune never comes alone. When we say crisis, we talk about the wold, famine and then third world. When we say tiredness, we talk about waking up still deaf from sleepless night So we just go out to forget all our problems. So we just dance...."
Prisons here in the US can learn from this. This is absolutely phenomenal. It's changing the way each of them view themselves. They're feeling a sense of self worth and accomplishment, aside from crime. Sadly, young men here are still tucked away for years in solitary confinement, with minor drug charges. There's little to no rehabilitation in US Prisons. God bless you, Mr Garcia and your sister, the Governor for your contributions to the betterment of so many lives. This is phenomenal... God bless these men and I wish them the best.
These prisoners were being forced to participate. Some were beaten if they refused. I don't know that that is healthy. A dance program is definitely a great exercise and recreational program, but it should be optional and a part of a comprehensive program of rehabilitation.
@@rcche3778 you're right, it's not healthy and it doesn't humanize prisoners as individuals. There are plenty of programs in the US who work with incarcerated people through dance as a vehicle for healing and rehabilitation. Check out Pay Grainey's "Keeping the Faith" Project for example.
I smile every time I watch this. Michael, I'm sure this made you smile as well as knowing what a HUGE impact you are in this world. LONG LIVE MICHAEL JACKSON! My 1st and only celebrity crush.
i always love Michael,, he was a good person,, I never believed ,, when people criticized Him,, he is a gentle Person,,when the world hated Him,, the more I love this person,, because,, thou shall not spread lies against thy neighbor,,,a lot of people arround Michael,,who accused him of Wrong doings,, are just present for a small fame,,,!!!I am so sorry Michael may you rest in Peace,, Filipinos loves you!!
Donna Shinall yea a whole bunch of murderers , rapist, child molesters, drug dealers, organ nappers, kid nappers, and abusive men make me happy when they dance . I do live fore MJ tho
I love how they keep inmates productive in the Philippines ❤️ Just so you know, inmates are also taught to make crafts like Christmas lanterns... and they are sold in public. I think the money goes back to the inmates, I'm not sure
If there is anything in my life I am 100% positive of, it is that Michael Jackson would have LOVED this. He loved when people covered his music and imitated him. He loved Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal as well. He was such a good guy. YES I am aware this was uploaded before he died, I am still just saying, I know he loved stuff like this.
@@krypticunlimited6925 They’re not innocents, they’re there for a reason, but their crimes are minor. Thieves, drug users, alcoholics and racists populate the prison. The prison serves more like a rehabilitation on a mass scale. Of course they wouldn’t allow a killer and a rapist here.
Michael Jackson: The genius artist. The beutiful human. The wonderful person. The greatest. Ever like him, no one like him. You live in our hearts always, we miss all of you... We love you.
If you saw John Oliver's episode on prison labor. I don't think it would happen because the way they treat the prisoners. They did do entertainment which is poker with actual bulls about attack them.
When you think of prison you think of hell. Gangs, fights, killings etc. This just shows how much love and influence MJ had where thousands of prisoners if only for five minutes unite and do this - and the guards let them!! MJ will always be the best as far as I'm concerned.
Wow! That's amazing, man. Kudos to the inmates as well as the prison authorities. Why can't all prisons be like this? I'm sure the inmates would be totally metamorphosed by the time thet get released. Isn't that the aim? There's nothing better than music to cleanse your mind and heart.
I've been living in the Philippines for close to 1 year now and I had never heard of this until seeing Happy Jail on Netflix. Simply amazing documentary!
"So you were in prison too? What was that like?" "Dude, I spent ten hours a day on the weights for four years and got totally jacked. You?" "I learned to perfectly replicate the 'Thriller' dance." "...Damn, you win."
Lol, this is brilliant, i love the message your trying to get across, but unfortunately we live in a world where there will never be peace or equality:(
i agree, it's hard to imagine gangs like bloods, crips, aryans, latinos and asian gangs dancing to one tune, they sure kill each other on what type of music to dance to.
in a very primal setting, prison, race likes to stick to its own. for instance my fish tank, different fish will school with others, but as soon as you add more of the same kind, they start to separate into their own race groups.
hesanender It can lower crime rate..Criminals would be afraid. If there is no death penalty they would just keep doing bad stuff and have nothing to worry about.
bjorn, so you're measuring ones country by crime rate and calling it broken because of it. With your logic, I guess us Americans are broken, too? And our language is broken up by England. Again, that means we're broken? Dude, go get fucking life. Quit trolling the internet coz you sound very insecure.
And with what I said, are all of you Scandinavians like this? Trolling the internet? Boy, I thought you guys are supposed to be the happiest country in the world. Lol. Bullshit. Everything is propaganda in your country, just like mine.
Hello guys, I have commented on this video to express my enthusiasm about how they dance and the way how they put so much effort in doing a great video. It's not nice to say that my country is broken and I bet you have never been into my country or even if you did and you don't like it then it's better to you keep it to yourself. I leave comments to appreciate and not to start an argument. I admire people who do something to change their life into something better regardless of their background.
Every scandinavian aren't like that. It is just Bjørn who is an idiot. There are many from Scandinavia who travel to the Philippines on vacation because it is a nice and varm country with good food.
I went to Cebu on the 26th Décembre 2009 and I think to have seen in real the last inmates performance of CPDRC. Thanks a lot to all of you guys and thanks a lot to Byron Garcia, it was the best show I saw in my life ❤
I’ll never forget the emotions I felt while watching Happy Jail and College Behind Bars. Two of the most memorable documentaries I’ve seen, hands down. If anyone’s curious: Happy Jail - about prisoners who dance while in jail (they’re the people in the video) College Behind Bars - about prisoners who study for a college degree while in jail Both are absolutely eye-opening, I really suggest everyone to watch them
here because back in year 6 my music teacher showed us this to show the dance moves we were gonna preform to the school. man time flies by fast, Thanks Mr Ward for the memories 👍
I just started watching the movie on Netflix and had to come watch this. How awesome is this! It takes real leadership to get criminals to join and work as a team, unfortunately it didn’t end well for them, wonder how they’re doing today.
This is probably honestly the most terrifying thing I've ever watched in my whole entire life I'm probably going to have nightmares about it but the rest of my life but honestly I think is just so amazing during the whole entire time they were practcing this prisoner in prison or crime went down like so much every prosion should do this
Seems to me most criminal acts are acts of selfishness. Dance and music performance like this is a great way to build some connection and concern beyond individual self interest. Good teamwork, and something better to do than just sitting on one's butt for months/years accomplishing nothing. Should expand their program prison system wide...
They learned it cause it was the first time someone paid attention to them, told them they could accomplish something awesome and great and taught them disciple. They probaly grew up without a Dad or poor role models in life.
What a fantastic way to channel energy and give them something to focus on. Also to learn to work as a team. Music and dance are great healers for body, mind and spirit.
