Now you got me wanting to run to the book store! I read and listened to When The Reckoning Comes, & thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m currently reading Dead Dead Girls and will be following with Harlem Sunset. Great suggestions, since your not recommending 😂
I was told that book was a thriller. Then when I started reading it I was like this is NOT a thriller 🤣 as long as you know what to expect going on I think you’ll enjoy it.
📋 Frieeeeend! Hey book bestie! Now ive read about 85-90% of these and i will say, you have some bangers on here. I haven’t read any of your horror recs tho. So of course i added them to Libby. I do have a few recs for you…Valerie Burns “cake” series, Delicious Monsters, The Perishing, Brendan Slocumb books, Anywhere you Run by Wanda Morris, Promise Boys, There’s No Way I’d Die First, I’m Not Supposed To Be In The Dark. Look I have a list a mile long. 🤔 Maybe I should make a video 😂
@@KaylasBookishVibes you are so motivating in this. I made a video about a month or so ago and then life started lifing. But watching your vids every week is like fuel on the fire. A battery in my back if you will 😆😆😆
I had a bookish channel a few years ago that I deleted, but I’ve always loved reading. I’m getting back into it and want to read a few really good black thrillers because they are far more relatable and conscious than mainstream thrillers. Razor Blade Tears is probably the best thriller I’ve ever read. I ate that book up and it was an emotional roller coaster. I got a lot of good Recs from this video. Thank you so much! 😊
📋 S.A. Cosby and Tiffany D. Jackson have become my fav for a great the thriller. Razorblade tears is so good on audible Buddy Lee is so funny at the wrong moments. And the weight of blood my Tiffany was the book that got me into audible 📚
📋I used to LOVE horror. Halloween was my fave back in the day because I could watch scary movies all day. IT by Stephen King was the book that got me out of reading horror. It was so scary😨
I literally just picked up The Reformatory right before I watched this video. I have a lot of these other books on my tbr as well. Some I’ve dnf’d and dine just keep getting moved down. Loved the recs ! 😊 📋
I read the Reformatory a few months ago; Tananarive Due is one of my favorite authors. This book was so well done, and I felt so connected to the character Robbie. I don't usually cry while reading, but this book definitely made me super emotional. Thank you for sharing your list.
real tears were shed while reading The Reformatory. At this point it’s my favorite book of the year and I plan to read more from Tananarive Due. I’m currently reading a collection of short stories by her and I think she may be a new favorite author 🥰
Girl!!!!!!!!! This was my first video of yours I’ve watched. I did a search on RU-vid because I was looking for a book recommendation by black authors. I typically only read business audiobooks. I came across your video and chose one of your recommendations that day “Reformatory” I am a horror movie fanatic but I’d never listened to a horror book before. This was the best book ever. I laughed, I cried, I was so angry!!! This book was so well written. When it was finished I felt lost. I wanted to keep following these characters. It was an amazing book. I just rewatched this video so I could move on to recommendation #2 🤣 So I’m now going to start “Allegedly” thanks. 😊
The Reformatory is probably going to be my favorite book of the year 😭 I loved it so much. I still think about those characters randomly. I have to remind myself they are not real people and didn’t “end up” anywhere 😅 So glad you found this video helpful and please let me know how you like allegedly when you are done. 🤗
Great recommendations. Tananana Reeve Due is a fantastic author. I definitely suggest all of her books. Especially the living blood series and the between.
Love Tiffany D Jackson! I read all her books except White Smoke. Allegedly shook me. *surprised pikachu* I don't normally read horror, but I do like a good mystery. Thank you for sharing, adding these to my list.
I'm so glad RU-vid recommended your channel. I immediately subscribed and I can't wait to read some of your suggested books. I love a good mystery/thriller.
My TBR will see no end📋. All the Sinner Bleed was sooooo good. I do plan to get into more SA Cosby books. Also, my introduction to Tiffany D,. Jackson was The Weight of Blood. I am not a big YA reader but I loved the story and the social commentary around it, as well as a nod to Stephen King's Carrie. So I will give your other suggestions a try. I've heard good things about Monday's Not Coming.
Oh this video is so needed! I am feeling like reading thrillers lately and the list of books you have compiled here have me excited to pick them up! S.A Cosby has been on my radar for a while now. Monday is not coming is free on kindle unlimited. I started reading it.😊🗒

This is mines (MYSTERY NOVELS) love books that has me from the first 3 chapters and wanting to know what happens next where it’s completely unexpected book turners!! My notebook was out sis and jotted some I def want to be into ready to read!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! ❤😊
🥹🥹🥹 You were one of the 1st black booktubers I found about a year or so ago. Thanks so much for watching, subscribing and taking the time to comment. I love your content and can’t wait for your next upload. This platform needs your input. 🫶🏾
So glad I found you! Loved the video. I’ve read some of these books, some are currently on my TBR, and you introduced me to some new ones as well. Girl The Reformatory is tearing me up! I have to take breaks because it’s stressing me but it’s a very interesting read. 💖 📋
So, I had a lot of these in my TBR and will short-listing a few now. I found They All Fall Down on libby with a quickness and will be picking up The After Party and One of Us Knows this weekend! Have you read Alyssa Cole’s order book When No One's Watching? it’s so good! 📋
You had me at “Dead Dead Girls” because I had already purchased that one on Audible! Then I kept playing and pausing to add 📚to my already long list of books 😆Well done! Much appreciated!
Idk how you came across my algorithm, but THANK YOU! I love thrillers & mysteries & would love to come across more by black authors, so this video is perfect. Looks like I have some summer reading suggestions
📋📋Love the reference to Living Single for the After Party book! Now I want to read it. I also thought about reading Their Vicious Games too. Hopefully I can scoop up the audiobook from my library 📚
Just started One of Us Knows. So far really good! Before I read any book I look up reviews. My first review on this book said there were too many misspellings for them to say it was a good book. Within the first few pages I figured out the misspellings were intentional, and it makes the book more interesting for me. I loved When no one is watching.
📋 I am so glad I came across your channel - instant subscriber! Tiffany D Jackson and SA Cosby are two of my all time favorite authors. I look forward to watching more of your videos 💜
Hi, Kayla! I absolutely enjoyed your video! I love thrillers and unfortunately, I never read thrillers written by black authors. But after your recommendations, it will change! Thank you! Hugs from Brazil.
📋Hey girl!! I added After Party and The Other mistress to my wishlist immediately 😆 White Smoke will definitely pass as a little horror. It was different for me but good! And yesssss to S A Cosby. I was gifted all of his books for my birthday this month. I did My Darkest Prayer as audio and it was CHEF KISS. I just finished Razorblade Tears on Tuesday. Whew! So good 🙌🏽🔥
So I just open to stumble across this video and I IMMEDIATELY subscribed just off the title alone. Then After I subscribed I had to get a notebook and pen because I’ll be in somebody’s bookstore this weekend. Thanks for the dope list of books.
I just found your channel and I am so glad I did! As a Black woman that has always loved to read I am so happy to see this representation. With the cozy vibes in your videos, I instantly subscribed!
📋 Thank you so much Kayla! I am starting my next fiction reading journey, and I’m so excited to read some of these. Tamron Hall also has some murder mysteries that I would like to get into.
RU-vid recommended your channel, and it has been the BEST recommendation!! I loved this video, and you reminded me of so many books that I already own and need to elevate to read over the next few months. I even added a few to my TBR that I didn't know about. I love your presence. It's like sitting down with an old friend, just sitting back and takn books. 😂😂 Take care, and I'm looking to future videos!!
Wow, thank you so much! 😊 This comment just made my day. Its really why I started a booktube channel. I just want to make book friends that I can chat about books with. 🫶🏾
Found your great suggestions video just in time, tomorrow I’m off to the bookshop’s and plan on getting several of the books you have suggested. Thank you!!
Just found your channel. And so glad that I did. Thanks for all your recommendations. Typically read historical fiction books but I’m going to try your cozy thrillers first
📋 !! Just found your channel and I’m so glad I did!! I love the detail you give it was completely on point . Thank you ! I feel like I have a new book best friend ❤
I love that you mentioned Tiffany D Jackson! White Smoke didn’t quite resonate with me, but I did enjoy the other two you mentioned. Have you read / heard of The Weight of Blood by her? I haven’t yet but i know it’s a YA Horror.
I think that may be the only book of hers I don’t own! I’ll have to add it to my Christmas list. I’ve heard a few people say White Smoke was their least favorite.
