Mary did not counted it a waste to pour her alabaster flask for the Lord. She heard that the Lord said so many times that He will go to Jerusalem and will be crucified - so she grasped the opportunity that, before His death, to anoint the Lord. To love the Lord with our best requires a revelation concerning Him. May the Lord open our eyes to see His worth!
Have we seen the preciousness of the Lord Jesus in whom we believed? Have we come to realize that nothing less than the dearest, the costliest, the most precious, even everything we have, is fit for Him? If we have seen His preciousness, why are we still so reserved?
Mary poured her alabaster flask for the Lord. By doing so, she gave her past, present, and future to Him. Even the Lord's disciples considered her love offering as a “waste”. Others may also be indignant, and regard our 'pouring out' a waste, because they do not have a proper concept of value.
Our concept of valuation as believers should be treasuring Him to the uttermost. What we pour out to the Lord, is not a waste, and will never be a waste. Our loving the Lord to the uttermost results in not caring for the price but giving everything we have to just love Him. This should be our testimony until the Lord comes back.
