It's just nice to remember a time when ppl actually danced. Today, guys just pretty much stand in one spot while moving their upper body around a little.. and girls just twerk and/or get low. Back in the day, people danced!
I've never been a fan of dancing in general, but my god... seeing the way people just dry hump on the dance floor today and call it "dancing" and now seeing this again, I can definitely appreciate the dancing from back in the 80s and 90s.
Yo... true dat. I'm 47 love all music but been on rap since 87... if you couldn't dance... you were made fun of and got no ladies... today.. I'm laughed at but can dance as good as anyone. Thank you to my brothas at Grady high school. Class of 94 LETS GO
I know, what you say it so true. I was at a wedding reception with lots of people in their 20's. They could NOT dance a lick! They had the D.J. play their music that they liked and THEY STILL couldn't dance at all except for the twerking.
When I met him, he was kind of an ass hat. But, this was at the time he had his entourage of hangers on/leaches. I walked out of a business and happened to be close to him on a sidewalk. He wasn't real friendly and his "posse" thought it was okay to put their hands on me. After he had to go through what he went through... He's probably a more humble person.
@@sereneamani1713 In LA . With the gift of hindsight, I do wonder how it would be for me if strangers just wanted, wanted , wanted all of the time. What bothered me was that I was paying zero attention to him or his people and it was turned into something. Funny in some ways, sad in others.
They called them parachute pants! Hammer actually just about ran the Oakland A's baseball team. He started as a batboy, but Charles O. Finley who owned the A's lived in Chicago. He noticed Hammer and gave him the assignment of keeping an eye on the team and informing of what was going on. That's why if you notice in the video they were wearing Oakland A's jerseys. 🤔😎
I’m a white 71 year old woman (don’t think granny pants) and I enjoy watching this about as much as you did! I think it’s sooo cool! Can’t touch this. Break it down, and Hammer Time!!! Now, those pants gonna take a minute to get used to. But I loved the beetle crawl he did in them!
I never was much of a rap fan but I sure was a MC HAMMER fan. He was a very humble man, that his so called friends took advantage of at the height of his career but I think at end of the day he's at peace because he is doing God's Work.
What Time Is It ? IT’S HAMMER TIME !!🤣 This would be a great song to play at schools all ages to get kids active, in the gymnasium, out on a schoolyard… it would be great to see kids happy & dancing 💫🎉☮️💜
Hammer is ex-military, then ⭐️ and finally minister. Seems a good guy -and he was extremely popular with everyone. He and his family had a reality show back in the day too.
Yes, he is now a church minister. This is the best rap song and rap video ever made. Came out around 1987. The pants? Harem pants. Dance competition? Only if wearing harem pants and dancing as good as MC hammer. Ha, ha! That'll take a lot.

Those baggy pants were actually called pantaloons. From what I remember, those were most popular not long after the dark ages. They have been around a long time.
Oohhh!!!! Those pants were soooooo friggin popular after this video!!!! Everyone in high school HAD to have at least one pair!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣......at least in New Jersey and Maryland... back then!!!
The sample of "Super Freak", which forms the basis of the song, led James (and other performers on the original record) to file a lawsuit for copyright infringement, which was settled out of court, with "Hammer agreeing to credit James as a songwriter!"
I don't know what the HELL I was thinking but when I was in high school I had pants similar to his simply BECAUSE of this video!😂 I also had HUGE hair! Now that I look back, I looked like a white/genie/satellite dish😂 Good times😝
He didn't lose his money, people used him and took his money. He was very generous man and people took advantage of that. Yes he is a reverend now but he's always preached the gospel. Check out his video for pray.
The moment I first heard this song, I immediately knew it was Rick James Super Freak. Back then lots of rappers did it. Poor Rick. He never got over Prince. Now MC Hammer was a threat to him. But actually it wasn’t a bad idea kicking it up a notch by a rapper. As long as the person gets permission from the original artist. Rick’s Super Freak wasn’t shown on MTV but MC Hammer’s did.
Hammer was a minister before he became famous. So basically he went back to his roots. Edit- I heard he lost of a lot his money trying to help others. He might not have understood how to manage that much money but it wasn't like he just blew it all on frivolous things.
