@@ukeyaoitrash2618 put yourself in their shoes. Instead of insulting them behind a screen think about what it was like being in a B-17 falling out of the sky.
In 2000 i got to fly in a B17. Your graphics are excellent. People don't realize how thin the metal skin is on these planes. It's as think as the cardboard on a box of cereal. Having bullets and shrapnel easily go straight through the plane. Those men were incredibly brave.
The radio communication at around 3 minutes is scary as hell. Can't even imagine what these brave souls went through. Excellent stuff as always, Yarnhub crew.
Like dude that’s what I’m saying. There’s a scene in the Memphis Belle, where one of the fellows goes down. you could hear the radio man screaming all The way down and the Memphis bells, radio man was forced to unplug his radio
@@FinleyLengel-rp2bm Yeah, I remember that scene very well. 'It's the rookies, they got the rookies'. Being a flyboy - and soldier in general - wasn't all glamour and glory.
Do y'all really believe that while they were plunging toward the ground to certain death, that they took the effort to push the transmit button on the radio so the net could hear them? Hollywood isn't reality, folks.
I think your animation of aircraft has improved tremendously over time! I remember seeing your older videos and noticing how the aircraft always maneuvered in a much more "arcadey" fashion, you animated them always way too close and slow for them to look realistic, but it got the point across. Now your animation of aerial combat has gotten much better and looks much more realistic! Keep it up!
Personally, I think of those old animations as an intended style! Pretty sure they know what they're doing, but of course I prefer the new animations as well.
My grandfather was a radio operator on a B-17, and made it through dozens of missions over occupied Europe. Watching this video, I wondered how many times he heard the screams of his fellows when their planes went down.
My great uncle, who sadly isint here anymore he was a radio operator too and he’s told me All he could hear, was screams of his friends and fellow countrymen, I could take any other position on a B-17 boat radioman no
@@FinleyLengel-rp2bm Wow. My grandfather _never_ talked about his war service. When I was a teenager, a heritage group brought a bunch of WWII planes to an airbase near my hometown. My dad and I went, and were stunned to see my grandfather (my mom's father) there, walking in and around the B-17 they brought. He still wouldn't talk about anything though. After my grandmother died (1991), we discovered in her house a scrapbook full of pictures and memories from his service. No one in the family knew it existed until everyone from that generation had passed on (probably because it had a bunch of pictures of ladies, none of whom were my grandmother ... pretty sure that's why she kept it hidden!). I recently inherited the scrapbook when my uncle (brother of my mom) suddenly died; I'm planning to get it digitized so I can share with other family members and with a veterans organization.
I love these moments when they show real images of the planes and then their animations in the same position, it makes it way more immersive than it already is
Amazing. Stunning. Your graphics just get better every single time, as well as your narration!! I love your channel and this is why I’ve bought your merch
@@mr.dripwalker8226 They’re teaming up with Sabaton to make a movie about their album The War to End All Wars, which features a song about the Harlem Hellfighters. I don’t know how much backstory the movie will provide for each song, but I imagine that there will be some. So, in a way, they’re already making that video! :D
Legend has it that after this battle, the Germans emailed Gaijin to Nerf the b17 and it’s .50 cals. Also, y’all nailed it with this video. Keep up the amazing work!
As a person that has watched your videos for years, i am amazed on how well the graphics are esspesially when you compeare the old videos to the recreations.
Dang I didn’t realize that incident happened in the same battle as what happened with Franz Stigler and Charlie Brown. Also amazingly well made video YarnHub team
What an incredible story!! I freaking love this channel and the b17 is my favorite plane, I get so excited every time I see a new hero. Vossler is a hero!!
Yeah, it started from 2d animations, and then simple 3d animations, and slowly evolves into more realistic animations, which is funny in some way because they use *unreal* engine
The fact that Ye Olde Pub and Jersey Bounce Jr were both in the same flight at the right time... The lore intertwines more than once. (EDIT) And Tondelayo apparently. --- Yarnhub
I recognized that "It's December the 20th, 1943, high in the skies above Germany", I can't believe that Jersey Bounce Jr. and Ye Olde Pub were on the same flight. Great video as always, Yarnhub.
This looks absolutely wonderful!! when i heard the words "It's December the 20th 1943" I was like wow another Remake? But my sheer curiosity kept me hooked onto a story you won't read anywhere in the History books
In just 3 years, yarnhub was from 2D animated videos now to these impressive videos, keep up the good work, looking forward to more videos. You plan to do any falklands war or more vietnam war videos? those are very interesting.
3:08 The screams of terror through the radio reminds of similar scene from the film Memphis Belle. That was probably they last movie made without much CGI.
Can u imagine the feeling in their body each time they think about those memories and remembering the adrenaline punch of this event, the fear of seeing all of your fellow bomber tearing themself aparts all arround you, the fear of dying, then killing all of these ennemie aircraft and surviving every next obstacles, + all of em surviving 10/10
Also when they are preparing the life raft, buske was sliding down the edge of the wing into the water but then vossler grabbed his waist with one hand while his other hand holding a antenna so they won't fall into the water
Absolutely amazing vid! One sometimes doesn't realize just how chaotic and intense the war in the skies really was! Thanks again for bringing all these parts of history back to life with such quality!
Yarnhub, if Disney or some other major art studio that produces films isn't trying to pick yall up, theyre the most incompetent people on the planet. Your animations are beating theres now in my opinion fantastic work
This channel is growing, animation-wise and audience-wise. I've watched your channel since the very first release of your videos! Great work Yarnhub! Absolutely plonkers how good it has grown.
I come to your channel whenever I watch a Infographic Show video to wash away the terrible aftertaste they put out. You guys try to help people to understand the world around them and own up to your own mistakes. That's what sold me to your channel. You do much to honor the memories of these heroes. Keep up the great and entertaining work!
The first time I watched this and I heard on the radio where the crew of another b-17 was screaming cause they're plane was going down and then it became silent sent a shiver down my spine
The B-17 in War Thunder takes one .30 cal hit to the wing tip and the entire tail falls off. It's designed to fail in the game so you pay more to repair it every battle.
Listening to those poor lads screaming over the radio is haunting. From your first video to this one, amazing work. Children in all schools should be made to watch these, educate them so they remember. 🇬🇧 💞 USAAF, RAF, RCAF, RNZAF and all free men who flew against tyranny 1939 - 1945
Tyranny continues with the nazis in Ukraine, aided by the USA, i wonder how those we lost in ww2 would feel about NATO backing up Ukraine's, Stepan Bandera worshipping, nazis today.
Somemore history you should research and why the following actually happened too:\ "Gentleman, I have come to the inexcusable conclusion that we have fought this war on the WRONG SIDE! We should have fought WITH the Fascists AGAINST the communists, and not the other way around. I fear in 40-50 years we may pay a dear price for this mistake." ...... General, George Patton. 07-21-1945, five months before his assassination -------- on orders from someone in the U.S. Government because he became a liability when he found out the truth of Why America was thrown into the War on Germany which has lead to the decline of Western Civilization ever since.
A couple of really cool details I spotted were the spiral on the German fighter’s propeller and the dog fight scene looked almost like ww2 footage at times with some color added. You guys never fail to amaze
You can cut parts of this video, slip it into a Call of Duty trailer and people will probably fail to realize it was made by a youtuber. Yarnhub animation is really outstanding. You guys are the UFOTABLE of RU-vid.
Excellent stories! Like the animations a lot. A similar thing happened with my Grandpa, he flew as a Co-Pilot in B-25s and 24s later on. During one sortie they had a direct hit around the nose and cockpit. It partially scalped & temporarily blinded Grandpa due to the blood and oil spray. It took most of the pilots head away, killing him instantly and severely wounded his crewman in the nose of the plane. He could see enough to take control of the plane and then they gained altitude as he didn't think theyd make it back, maybe having to bail. None of the crew bailed. He managed to land it safely though his eyes were almost swollen shut but after some weeks, he was able to get back to it. He married Gran during the war and would send her lots of little pencil and pen sketches of the planes, his friends and things. They had a special party once on the base for the local families and such and he played the clarinet in a throw-together band. Thats where they met and had their first dance together. When I turned 28, I took Grandpa up after I passed from my flying lessons and first thing he did when sitting in the seat next to me was to stick up a photo of Gran that she gave him in 1943 as a keepsake.
The animation is just getting better and better. I like the different camera angles too. Maybe you are ready to make a full fledged documentary or movie.
The Animation level of detailing of war sequence Wow amazing B17 War Thunder sequence by Yarn Hub team 👏 Brillant work The quality of details are amazing
The tail gunner George Buske is my grandfather. This is a great video to see it can only imagine so much reading about it. There is a book Saving Sgt. Buske with great detail of the mission. Only concern is I believe he shot down the German plane before going unconscious. He was a very humble man so didn’t tell much detail of the missions. Plus would say “ I passed out, don’t remember much lol” He was a great man who is missed very much.
as someone who finds it really hard to place people on very high pedestal and say they are the best, confidently i say, there is no other channel that re-creates historical events better than yarnhub. might as well carve it into a rock.
where do you guys get these stories?! i always LOVE to watch a video of yours! and the graphics are also sooooo much better than it used to be. i'm very impressed every time and i love the stories, keep it up!
Man these Yarnhub videos give you the chance to set yourself in such a situation, the B-17 crews screaming and the realization that you are next is something you can’t experience in a normal documentary. Great job.
Awesome video. My grandfather flew medium bombers, and I love seeing stories of WWII bomber crews. Wouldn't say that War Thunder is the best route for bomber lovers to play. If the B-17 in this video was anything like the model in war thunder, it would have broken into a dozen pieces as soon as the first volley hit.
It's been a great 20 years. That hit me so deeply. And God allowed me to live for 23 years as a cop and 20 years as army. And these true heroes of WW2.
