So, the somber tone of the performance for Come Back Home is because this was part of a special that was done in support of the Sewol Ferry disaster. For those that don't know, in 2014 a ferry carrying highschool students in South Korea capsized and almost noone survived. What added to the heartache was that so many of the kids were able to send out texts to their families before they passed. It was a trauma for the entire country. That's why 2NE1 are dressed in black wearing yellow ribbons. Both CL and Bom were sick but they still wanted to be apart this. The song takes on new meaning because they are wishing the kids could come back home.
@@roguereactsI recommend you see rotten mango covering the incident to get full picture in brief. And see the Italian army explanation video to BTS song spring day as that song was about This and they explained whole music video meaning.
Fun Fact: 2NE1 is the best selling K-pop Girl Group EVER. Worldwide, they have sold around 66 million records worldwide. Overall, they are the 4th best selling girl group regardless of genre of all time, only being beat out by The Andrews Sisters, The Supremes and The Spice Girls.
The first Korean female group to held World Tour.. The first Korean group was their brothers group BIGBANG.. The amazing fact is these groups did it in the same year.. YGE pushed it power house artists to the world during that era...it was amazing😍💥
The Coachella surprise has some very poignant subplots. Back in 2015 CL was slotted to perform a solo at the MAMA awards and unbeknownst to anyone she was able to get the rest of the group together, even though they hadn’t performed for almost a year and a half, avoid all of the paparazzi who always stalk Korean airports, fly them there and after her own amazing performance have them each appear one at a time until the crowd was at an absolute frenzy and then slay with Fire and I am the Best. What no one at the time realized was that they would be forced to disband soon after and this would be their last live performances. Or, until CL got the chance to pull off almost the same thing, albeit a smaller scaled version at Coachella. A shocked crowd (many of whom knew 2NE1 because they were there to see CL) took a minute to figure out what was happening. But it was pandemonium after that. You can tell what kind of a leader CL is by watching her after she finishes her opening and comes to sit back on the stairs next to a clearly nervous Bom. She gives her a quick tap or touch. I couldn’t tell. Minzy is just a fricken dancing monster. Of course, seeing as how she was only 15/16 when the group formed she is what? Barely 30 now? She’s about the same age as most of the members of BTS right? And yes, Dara did accidentally kick one of her shoes off. Haha After the concert was over CL produced a very nice mini documentary about the whole thing with lots of behind the scenes stuff including their after concert evening.
The version of Come Back Home was from the memorial service for the hundreds who drowned in the Sewol Ferry disaster. 250 of the 304 victims were high school students.
Thanks for showing I Don't Care/Go Away. I love that video. Yes they have a live band. They can be seen in one of the tours when the Crush album was being promoted.
April 2022 was my kpop highlight of the year. We got the unexpected 2NE1 reunion at Coachella and Dreamcatcher first win within a few days of each other 😭😂
Thank you. I'm a sucker for 2NE1 live performances. They are just irreplaceable. Aside from the ones you watched, here's some of my other favourite performances: Gotta Be You ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zY0qmCNx_yo.html Can't Nobody ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TLo6CsrIeVI.html Scream ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PXrB9HbVlNI.html Don't Stop The Music ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JdpPstZEzPw.html
the coachella reunion performance omg 😭🖤 they were streaming all the performances live and I was watching for CL’s set. I kept joking to my bf all day like “and then 2ne1 is gonna show up for he finale” as a joke cause I never thought it actually would happen. But when I actually saw them all standing together I fr started crying and partying immediately lmaoo I grew up with 2ne1 and they were such a massive influence on my life 🫶🏻 I’m so glad the YT pushed your reactions to me today, I binged them all immediately but I was so sad to see you haven’t gotten around to doing any deep dives or solo reactions. Hope to see more 2ne1 reactions soon, group or solo stuff!!
That Coachella performance was fantastic!! It must have been an amazing thing to experience either watching it live or streaming 🥰 Their solo stuff is coming up in the next few months!!
That live version of Come back home is my absolute FAVORITE performance of there’s. They are very underrated as singers I get emotional every time I hear it. They did release an acoustic version of that song on streaming. I believe it’s a bonus track at the end of the final album. They underrated singers
What a great surprise to search 2ne1 + reaction on youtube and see this video come up, since it said pt4 I watched the whole playlist! I always have a great time getting to see someone react to 2NE1 for the first time, for me it brings some of that first time feeling back, even more so now that they disbanded and are doing their own thing. Loved the fact that you saw something in Dara, ofter times overlooked and disregarded because of her soft voice and loving presence...she's the latest member to release her first solo album, perhaps you can do her solo stuff since it's recent :) I would suggest going "in order" through all their MVs, there are plenty fan-made playlist of all songs, also many fan version videos even have the lyrics embedded! Regarding their stage presence, all their performances are that good, even regular Inkigayo stuff. For ballads, always have tissues ready. Welcome to the blackjack universe! ♠♥♣♦
33:45 Don't know if you already see the live performance of Korean Rock Version of I Don't Care that one is fire 🔥 they literally go grazy with the live band
You should react to Bom’s solo songs. She was the first and only female pop/ballad PAK (perfect all kill) with ‘Dont Cry’ until last year or so when Blackpinks Lisa got a PAK.
Fun fact: 2ne1 is the first girl group to have a world tour and they did it two times, their tour always have a live band and they help breaking boundaries for Asian girls in general since back then only boy group get to do world tour and stuffs. They did a lot for kpop especially for girl groups starting from their girl crush, baddest & female empowerment concept to high end fashion when YG couldn’t afford but they purchase themselves along with multiple appearance in the west as well as being dominate in the market that they themselves as a not standard beauty girl group who manage to change everyone heart.
At 21 minutes you asked if they made it to the US and I’m happy to say yes. I was lucky enough to make it to their first Los Angeles concert as part of their first world tour in 2012. They broke the record that night for being the only Asian act to sell out the Nokia theater. Folks traveled from San Francisco and Nevada for this show. I was only 12 and begged my mom to take me. We were one of few Mexicans in a sea of Asian diaspora who felt so seen and represented by 2NE1 in the US. We had no connection to this culture and my mom and family who accompanied me recognize it as one of the best live shows they’ve seen despite the language barrier and not knowing the songs. It makes me happy to see 2NE1 captivate people still, all these years later
Ah.. 2NE1. I found them (and Sistar) in 2010 and it was love at first sight and down I went into the kpop rabbit hole. Haha. Been a Blackjack (and a Star1) since then. Do you only react to girl groups? I scrolled down your videos and saw only ggs. If you are open to reacting also to boy groups I would highly recommend trying out Bigbang's music, both group and solo releases. They are an OG group that is a bit different from the current kpop groups and their discography is very diverse. Bigbang are the original kings who changed the whole kpop industry to what it is now. I would love to give out recommendations of MVs and lives if you are open to reacting to them. :)
I stan an awful lot of groups and they all have their different strengths but in my very biased opinion no girl groups come close to 2NE1 and Mamamoo in terms of live performance and stage presence. They blow the roof off every time! Minzy is fighting against that 'forever maknae' label with her life 😂 They could literally have an entire concert of just aaall the different versions of I Don't Care 🤣
So now you have seem something of 2NE1 in your four reactions. Tremendous voices, rapping and dancing. Innovative styles, Above all energy, passion, emotion and joy.
