So the girl was actually terminally ill so she didn't want her bf (GD) to feel sad when she's gone so she lied to him and broke off the relationship. GD misunderstood that her gf cheated with his best friend, TOP. At the end when GD found out, it was already too late. That's why TOP was returning the ring and saying like, the girl still loves GD and actually asked for his favor to be her pretend boyfriend (that explains their awkward demeanor in the car when GD saw them).

I cannot recall any particular film or show, but I feel like this make-you-hate-me-so-you-won't-miss-me thing is a trope in East Asian cinema. I never understood the logic behind it. It seems to me that it results in the remaining person just getting hurt twice.

But in the end he finds out the truth and she dies. In 2007 this song was something never heard in Korea and kickstarted their careers. Also what was so amaing about this song was that the Kpop artist wrote it. The stigma around manufacturer artist in Kpop is still their today. G Dragon to dat has the most song royalties of any Kpop artist out their and he hasn't written a new song in 4 years. The group consist of 5 members originally although today only 4 and each voice is so different but just once hearing them and everyong knows who they are.

Sorry to interrupt you but GD is no longer the idol with most royalities. Ravi from Vixx, PSY has more royalities and RM of BTS has more than equal no. of royalities than GD. Still GD being in top 5 despite not releasing any music last 4 years is very commendable.

A year later, Haru Haru became a mega-hit in South Korea and reached Kpop music lovers in Asia to the West. BIGBANG had no idea they were reaching so many listeners around the world. Data gathering was in its infancy back in the day, so they likely thought their potential market was a few Asian countries like Japan or China. They are also the idol group that captured back the hearts of the public listeners. Yep, there was a time things weren't doing well for the idol industry. The girl and the guy with the ring(GD) were together but when she found out she was sick(her hair was falling out which points toward cancer) she didn’t want him to suffer so she planned with the tall friend(Top) like they got together so GD would be angry and forget about her while Top was fine with ruining his friendship if he could spare GD the pain. Even the other friends were in on it. Eventually one of the other friends(Taeyang) couldn’t leave it be and called GD to let him know what was going on. What Top said in the hallway was roughly “Sorry I lied. She really loves you.”

Haru Haru is the anthem of us VIPs. I really love that they usually do an acoustic live version of it. Here is a "brief" introduction and history of Bigbang: They debuted in 2006 from YG. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. And they just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before RU-vid and social media were huge like they are now. They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen big ones). They are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. The members are GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Lead rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 TOP: Main rapper, minimal vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, born 1987 Taeyang: Main vocal, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1989 (most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1990 (Left BB in 2019 due to a scandal, if you want to know more I can write a new comment on that, but all in all it was a super messy, public and complicated thing that was part a witch hunt, part covering bigger issues and there was some small part that was also the truth. There is A LOT of wrong info going around on this scandal.) They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1). BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every consert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The band six toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café, Haru Haru (acoustic version) and Sober (with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a consert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones. But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but what Bigbang started: - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong) - TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor) - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD again, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce) - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. And started to combine different genres in one song. Like Bang bang bang. - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop. - To have actual rappers in a group and not a singer who has trained to rap here and there. The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together) - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo careers. - International success. They were the first ones to have a real world tour, first international awards, etc. - YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG. YG ent is one of the "BIG 3" (or the big 4...with Hybe) all thanks to BB. YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) when BB debuted and thanks to their success they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point. - First mini albums - They were always themselves, goofy, a bit crazy and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are. - High fashion in kpop - Crazy hair colors - The list goes on.. They've had some scandals over the years (some real and some not) but in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols. What I personally like the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they make a comeback on April 5th!! I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. He is TOP with the grave voice. A fact is that he and are the first in kpop to be a soft and grave rapper combination. When companies saw how successful that was they started Applying it on their new groups. So you all owe it to Bigbang.
