Two things: 1) based on my google search, music videos are anywhere from $20,000 to $500,000. 2) there's an interview somewhere where they say that they improvise all of their harmonies Edit for 3): Josh Ramsey (the lead singer) wrote "Call Me Maybe"
If you like Josh's voice you should listen to their song Lover Dearest. He's an amazing vocalist and it's the story of his drug addiction. It's so good.
PLEASE react to The Killing Kind by this band. It's amazing, truly. Oh, and one of their funniest videos is that one linked to the end of the this one, 'Here's to the Zeros'. You should react to that as well, pretty please.
Marianas Trench is so underrated, their music videos like "Fallout" had huge explosions and a castle so probably a lot. They are more about making a story through their entire album. Honestly if you wanna see the band at their BEST listen to Ever After or Astoria.
Oh please please pleease listen to more Marianas Trench! They're absolutely amazing but also very underrated in comparison to other bands. If you ever want to check them out more, try listening to Ever After, Astoria, No Place Like Home, The Death of Me, and Burning Up!
The song itself though is quite sad in how it came about. The whole Album Astoria is about Josh( the lead singer) called off wedding, and break up with on and off again girlfriend, now wife because they finally got married last year!. This is Josh literally screaming at her, asking her who does she(you) love. He's totally heartbroken after seeing her with another person after their break-up, He's trying to move one, get his shit together thinking that will help him..but then she comes back and everything seems to fall apart and nothing right can be said...it actually follows through the album. Wildfire after this is actually contemplating taking her back because their love is a wildfire, then so forth in When we were young. Trench does some amazing concept albums...I've seen them four times in concert over the years( i'm Canadian hahaha!) Astoria was a great one that is for sure!
As someone who works on the production side of the entertainment industry, events and videos are not cheap, cuz theres all the BTS stuff you dont consider; sets that need built & people to build them, renting out spaces to shoot vids, camera work, any CGI/ pyrotechnics, wardrobe, electricians etc :)
Just for the sake of awarness as well, COVID has caused the majority of my industry to be laid off (literal millions of us), and without us, music videos and audio recordings wouldn't exsist, so anyone who reads this, pay attention to what your arts councils are saying :)
I remember when gift cards where just the card now most of them are attached to like little leaflets these days lol that's probably why you didn't notice at first
