The more we think we are different the more we find out we are the same. Maybe different cultures ( WOULDN'T THAT BE BORING) but wanting the same as humans. Yeah there's some bad apples don't throw out the whole barrel
@@danhigbee2283honesty most of the US should hear that, since many stereotypes are attributed to groups which do those things in the minority. In reality, most people are pretty similar and are decent, but just differ on beliefs of how the world and things should be run.
As an Indian, if someone offers me curry and does the most stereotypical Indian accent ever, I would laugh my ass off honestly as that is the funniest thing ever 😂
What if you're just trying to go about your day and someone starts with you, "Hey, do you want some curry with that??" while using a stereotypical Indian accent but with no intention of giving you any food or being hospitable to you in any way? Would you still laugh? I definitely have laughed uncomfortably a few times, but I actually never thought of it as funny. For me, it got old real quick. In fact, it always made my blood boil. But maybe I just have very thin skin.
That's funny, because I'll be thinking the opposite. That maybe you never liked me in the first place if you put that kind of effort into messing with me.
@@Ms9mmBeretta Only shitty people mess with people they hate. The racist gift basket level of love is only one or two levels away from adopting someone's kids if they die or sharing a kidney with them.
True. I’ve always hung out with guys. When they mess with each other, it’s because they’re really good friends. When girls do that to each other, sometimes it can be mean (sometimes you don’t know). That’s why I always hung out with guys. They mean what they say, and say why they mean. Love guys for that. 😊
I worked at one of your shows you did and as we were getting ready to break down the set you came out and thanked us, we see lots of celebrities walk by and I don't expect them to thank us but you were very nice. I remember seeing your dogs first and thinking OMG there's dogs, and then there you walked by thanking us.
Its nice to hear that he seems as nice to the people helping out on the shows as his on stage personality suggests. Lots of celebrities are known for putting on a show but then being conceited off stage.
Yes Jody, it is absurd. To think that quite a few coins in the US have the inscription "E Pluribus Unum", "out of many, one." At the present time there is a group of powerful figures that are working to prove otherwise, shame we've come to learn how to be divided, by the same elite group. I feel for the next generation of kids. God Bless.
Fun fact, I grew up thinking grape drinks where actually a Jewish stereotype because of how often it was served to us growing up and how much we loved it as kids. So when I first heard of Dave's chapelles grape drink joke, I felt like the black kid from sunny d even though I was Jewish. I think it's hilarious and would never be offended by food. I would love a racist gift basket.
@@WhiteBloggerBlackSpecsonly alcohol my Catholic grandma drinks - but we found out when she was already old that there's Jewish ancestry in her! 😄 It was in her blood the whole time
@@patrickphilip777 Nah. Makes sense cause grape the only flavor of the cheapest drinks that didn't taste absolutely garbage. The off brand colas in the 90's/80's tasted like they should be in car, not a human. The grape was the only one that wasn't complete crap. Jewish people aren't super rich. When they are rich, they still live poor because it's a culture of humility. Many religions have cultures of humility. Source: I was a public housed kid. Had a Jewish friend in middle school.
Oh get a life guy. Here in SA black staff in stores without exception are naturally helpful if you come to them and ask nicely I always assumed it's a great part of the culture.
Give me that tray of authentic lasagna that was allowed to rest 1 whole day in the refrigerator cut and reheated till the cheese is crispy-burnt a bit...O my! I love it
I'm British, never heard of you before, but I'll remember you now!!! Some people say American humour is different and does not carry well across the pond. But I got this loud and clear. Was not expecting the second comedians entrance, but that made it for me. Comedy and satire made by true professionals can hit ignorance and racism right on the head, as you both did. Well done.❤😂
Seats are probably like $100+ depending on how he was going to fly First Class probably would have been $500+ back than considering first class is around $1k+ now

Nothing racist about the gift basket. Sure, it was made with stereotypes in mind, but it was also gifted from a friend to a friend. The fake KKK card is what made the joke, but they were right there to yell PUNK'D while ROFLMFAO. And G loved the joke, he was just mad Fluffy was eating his chicken. Which I don't blame him for. Had this been gifted to a stranger and without the quick reveal, it would not have been cool.
@@stuflikethis What? Isn't racism supposed to be this thing where you think a race exist? Like we aren't a human race but are categorized in different races based on our skin colour and that we live in a hierarchy where the darker your skin is, the more you resemble a animal rather than human. I thought we all learned this in school, why yall coming up with all these new definitions for the word?
@@l.2620 The belief that darker skin people are lesser or more primitive is more related to white supremacy which is an ideology. It's discrimination, and a kind of racism. But it isnt the definiton of racism. But racism broadly speaking is differentiating people based on race. This isn't inherently bad. Acknowledging stereotypes can be funny and bring us together for example. If a black guy teases his white friend for getting a sunburn is it racism? yes because he's acknowledging a difference between the races. But is it bad? Probably not. If an olympic lifting coach suggests a different technique for someone of a different race to accomodate their limb proportions is it racist? Yes. But is it wrong? no because the coach is trying to help them in their sport Racism isnt inherently bad. prejudice and bigoted ideologies about race are what is toxic
You all are definitely mixing up the words "racism" and "racialism" and I hope you figure it out before you walk around any longer saying racism isn't bad.
No lie, if someone gave me a rice balls with the good shit inside I would be in love. Doesn't matter if it's seemingly racist, nobody thinks of that when being given good food
Race jokes are always the best. I grow up around mexicans in south Florida and one thing I can say is this is accurate. We use to do this all the time, literally everyday but we love each other. Good times
Back in 2013, I hadn't heard of Gabriel until my friend dragged me to his show. Gabriel closed his set with his own "greatest hits" jokes that the audience knew the punchline to, so I felt a bit left out with everyone else saying "cause you can smell it!". But then, a kid in the front row shouted "racist gift basket!" and even most of the audience didn't know that one. "Man...I love ALL that shit." Standing ovation. Still the best closing joke I've ever heard.
I agree. Also another weird thing is when they say "want some beef?" i thought about food but it was a sence on the road but in the end that beef is about fight. Stupid right? Food is food i dont get it
Comedians are usually one of the best resources to learn about different cultures because they are uncensored and honest about their own. Media tends to hold a bias over certain cultures, which can lead to inaccuracies.
@@soulesskoma We learnt about stereotypes within for example, American culture, which would be too politically incorrect to even enquire about or discuss in real life.
@@icecreambeats101 you literally said that like Jamaica is the only island that has blacks… it’s better to ask next time where is someone from instead of making a comment like that
There's something that everyone needs to learn: when it comes to racism and offensive things like that, context *does* matter, and jokes made with friends can make allll the difference in the world. I had a very diverse group of friends in my early 20's, and it was just kind of a running gag that we'd constantly make stereotype jokes with each other. Every time we passed alchohol, "better keep Andrew away from it" because he's Irish. I'm black, so when we'd walk past watermelons and they'd remark how excited I must be that they're back in season. We'd laugh, we'd flip each other off, it was all fun because we all knew that none of us actually *believed* any of it, none of us had any malice...it was like playing cards against humanity. It was funny *because* it was wrong and we all knew it. It was absurdist humor.
One of the best ways to deal with something evil, like racism, is to make fun of it. I used to manage a restaurant and I had a particular black employee who would jokingly accuse me of racism every time I would single him out for an extra task. He once asked me if I'd ever heard of the emancipation proclamation because I had him do a little extra mopping. It was funny. Then, one day, I had to fire a different employee who was also black. The first guy asked me if I was going to "fire all the brothers". It was funny. Then I said, "No, but I figured I better fire at least one, just to keep the ratio down. Problem is, you all look the same and I'm not sure who I fired." He laughed. I laughed. We both knew neither one of us meant anything by it. Humor is an important part of dealing with the dark side of life.
I was just watching a Cesar Milan video yesterday where he was training a woman on how to come into the house without getting her dogs excited to the point they were jumping all over her (because she was pregnant). They're practicing at a fence gate and he tells her to try again with more confidence because she was coming in kind of weakly, expecting the dogs to jump on her or try to get out. And he said, "You are squeezing through that little gap in the gate like me when I came across the border." The funniest thing was the woman and her husband didn't really seem to catch on to what he said.
Until the vcr starts floating at night, right? Zing! Good one, right? Do you get it?? Not funny. Race jokes = race ism. You cycle you're a cyclist. You perpetuate the false science of race you're a.... yea. Racist.
I love seeing the audience CRYING with laughter......! A friend of mine played me the recording of this quite a few years ago. One of the funniest stories ever told, and a sign of true friendship among men.
its still racist no matter what but Gabriel was just joking around and knew it would just be a "remember that" moment. I love these types of pranks instead of a guy doing it to random person since it will more than likely be considered offensive and their asses getting beat.
The gift basket could be interpreted as racist. That was the joke. And it worked because the guy got it in the end. It just took him looking at the card.
In the 1980s, I was at a catered, corporate reception. One of the corporation's vice presidents was a distinguished, 50ish black man. As he approached the buffet table, he looked around the room and said that if anyone laughed, they'd be fired. Then he grabbed a fork and took a bunch of slices of watermelon. Of course, EVERYONE laughed. No one was fired AND no one got offended. Miss those days.
@@ethawalli the main thing is that nowadays there is a big dividing line between a dark joke and straight up being offensive. what gabriel iglesias and that old black man did on that reception is a dark joke (probably the guy at the reception was a light joke). but there is that and then there is yelling racial slurs on the internet and hiding behind "comedy"
I’m half Indian, so my black buddy once used a red sharpie and put a dot on my forehead when I was sleeping. I laughed my ass off. A few days ago it’d was his birthday . I gifted him a 40 of old E, watermelon and a gift card to Popeyes. He laughed his ass off. And unbeknownst to me, those are like his three favorite things! Lol!!
When he lost it I couldn't help myself but laugh really loudly. But you only get why it was bad if you know that I was already crying and was holding back cause my parents were right next to my door, I had to be really quiet. I don't know how the heck they did not realize, I was crying so bad 🤣🤣🤣
It's an American culture thing, has to do with stereotypes that you might not be familiar with. It's like getting a Chinese person one of those hats you see in costumes, chopsticks, a cat or dog, etc. Hope that makes it clearer for you
MrJreed1000 I’m just saying. It’s still a gift basket. Lots of food, grooming supplies, etc. asides from the racist part, you’re getting free stuff lol
