Next week we hit the streets of Toronto for the Honda Indy Toronto! This week's Throwback sticks with the Canadian IndyCar theme as we roll back to the west coast for the 1997 Vancouver Molson Indy.
It was a wild race, especially for the 1997 Champion, Alex Zanardi. He started on pole, missed the turn 3 hairpin and dropped back to 23rd and fought his way back up to 3rd. Zanardi then missed the same corner again to fall a lap down until he took out race leader Bryan Herta (un-lapping himself and causing a yellow) to rejoin the pack. With around 15 laps remaining, he went on another charge and finished the race P4.
FEL Motorsports may only race in Ontario and Quebec for now, but we hope that one-day professional motorsports can return to the coastal provinces of Canada once again!
Regardless of where it is, IndyCar street racing is sure to bring chaos and excitement, and this year's Honda Indy (July 14-16) in downtown Toronto will be no exception!
