What an amazing race this was and one of the best rides of Tony Elias's life. That photo finish at finish line also was the moment that cost Rossi his 10th title!

I had highlights of this race on a laptop several years ago, it had American commentary. Don't recall which channel. Loved every minute of it. They were incredulous at Elias overtaking people sideways at the braking for turn 1, jubilant at Kenny Roberts getting his hands on some rare silverware. Distinctly recall the commentator shouting, "Disbelief! Disbelief!" when the Repsol Hondas ran into each other.

If it wasn't for Toni Elias winning that race, Rossi would have tied on points with Hayden in the final race if it still finished the way it did. This would mean that Rossi would have won the 2006 title because he had more wins than Hayden. Still, Nicky was a formidable foe for him that year, and he deserves that title absolutely.

This was one of the rare occasions when Elias got access to some of the overnight special tyres wasn't it?

I remember a later comment by Nicky that "he was cheering for Elias as hard as his mother". ( I didn't like Pedrosa for many years after that incident, but ultimately I forgave him. )

I am very concerned. constrained about the rear tire that quickly runs out, I have a request. if my short message can be conveyed to vale ,. in my opinion vale is more suitable to use tire types (MEDIUM & HARD). for the rear tires ,. it looks like the soft tires are not suitable. for vale now ,. I saw some vale races. he is very tough when wearing the rear tire (MEDIUM / HARD) ,. Even several times on the podium. maybe my advice can help ,. hopefully the year 2021 ,. hopefully in the future. vale can appear competitive again. can even be a podium ,. by using the rear tire that I recommend.
