In this Throwdown Episode, I challenge the claim that the Sofirn IF24 is an upgrade to the IF23 and also throw in the Wurkkos HD01 for comparison. The Sofirn IF24 is NOT and upgrade from the Sofirn IF23. The Wurkkos HD01 and the IF23 both rise above the IF24 in MANY ways, watch the video and find out why.

Here is a test I do. Large white wall about 20 to 25 feet a way. Put IF23 in turbo mode pointing toward the wall. Then turn on the IF24 on turbo mode pointing at the wall. You will barely notice the IF24 was turned on at all. Then do the opposite. Turn the IF24 on first. Then turn on the IF23 and you will see it completely makes the light on the wall from the IF24 disappear because it so greatly outshines the IF24.

Interesting test. I like it.

Because the 23 is more flood.. Obviously it's gonna washout the 24's spot.. Dumb

I have the IF23 and love it. It is however heavy because of he large battery. Initially I was interested in the IF24 because of that and I think the user interface is actually more intuitive. But I had my concerns about the IF24 and you very much confirmed all of them . Thank you very much for saving me some money.

True absolutely right about the size of the battery making the light bigger in dimensions and weight…but features, I’ll take the IF23 all day! It can charge other devices! That alone is more valuable than the IF24. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I'm with you on the IF23. One thing worth mentioning, on both the IF23 and IF24 (and I have no idea about the HD01) is that you can change the mode to stepless brightness control, so instead of being stuck with low, medium, and high, you can dial in the exact brightness you want. This was actually one of the main features that pointed me to the IF23 to begin with, but as I say, I'm pretty sure the IF24 also has it.

Great point. Regarding ramping: I’ve found the ramping mode to be a helpful feature if the modes (HML) aren’t spaced appropriately and I’m interested in primarily using a memorized mode. If they are spaced well and I’m using different levels, which I do most of the time, then it’s faster to go with the steps (HML).

check reviews with lumen tests to know what the real output is. if23 turbo is around 2900 lumens nowhere near the claimed 4000
@Realidealgear
@Realidealgear 3 месяца назад
True, and that variable (actual lumen output) is likely applicable to all their models as they likely use the same testing protocols for Sofirn lights (lumen, candela, etc). Thanks for watching and sharing.

According to another You Tuber test the HD01 ran turbo mood for 3.5 minutes before dropping down.

Impressive. I like the HD01 a lot. Far more compact if that’s the size someone is looking for.

IF23 has more lumens, more battery, and I love the frosted/diffuser on the side LED

I am with you on the IF23. I like the warmer tone, the bigger battery, and the better flood. Never owned a Wurkkkos but it seems decent! Its like these torches are an evolution of the Arkfeld. The runtimes seem slightly odd but fine. That ring on the IF24 feels like a fidget toy. I like the option of a reversible clip. Rechargeable battery is a huge plus. I have some lights with built in batteries and although they are great, when they die, they die... I can deal with the width but length is a problem for your pocket. I wonder how long that rotating ring will last before the it wears out or gets play between the connectors. Those features are cool but my lights are tools not toys. Id rather it be straight forward and easier to use. I think they all might be versatile but I am taking one with me for most situations its the IF23. I think it can be seen as a variation instead of an upgrade. Hope you are doing well bro! Take care and God bless you all! 👌👌

I concur with all you’ve said. The IF24 being a variation is a great way of putting its updated design in a correct context. The Wurkkos HD01 is a dandy little multipurpose light. It’s the perfect size for such a pocket carry. Hope you’re doing well, working my tail off and trying to keep up with YT reviews. Busy times but my treasured time is with the Word.

dang*it... i added the if23 to/fro my amazon cart at least 3 times tonight for a birthday gift for a special electrician in my life... decisions decisions... he's a smart man... he WILL figure out how to press the buttons... i'm an old man.. 2nd-guessing if the if24 was better BUT THEN... i'm sure his young mind will grasp the concept of "button presses in succession" to make it work the way he wants. I was SOLD on the 23...then removed it from the cart for the 24 cuz it looked easier.. but wait... the 23 HAS reverse clip((ball cap)... reverse charging... yeah... IF23 HANDS-DOWN!

You’ve hit on the reasons why I think the 23 is superior, not to mention the output is higher with a heat flood beam. Check out the candela video I did…I showcased the IF23 is a one of the best security lights anyone can own. Also…if you combine a dual charging battery with the 23, any camping/travel will two ways of charging multiple devices. And yet the dual charging batteries are usable in the IF23….there’s no need for an extraneous, dedicated battery packs. The 21700 dual charging batteries runs the IF23 whereas a charging pack can’t be quickly swapped/used in the IF23.

The IF23's one button is just an insult to usability. It is already a bad design choice if you have to remember the interface on something as simple as a flashlight. The selector ring on the IF 24 is not perfect, but it is a big improvement. The IF 24 is more suitable for edc due to its smaller size. I would choose the 24 pro with a better tint. If you want a lumen monster, there are even better options out there. In my opinion, all of these fall under the weird category of gimmicky lights that claim to do anything.

Thank you for commenting. I appreciate the feedback. The difference in size...the IF24 is longer (1.5mm) and the IF23 is slightly wider (1mm.). The IF23 is not a smaller size. If anything, they are a wash. Rotating a ring and then using the same basic click concept to access the modes within that ring mode...is more convoluted not less. Memorizing the ring positions is no different than memorizing the click pattern for the IF23. I agree the tint is better on the Pro. The IF24 is has less output across all light outputs, it's longer, the user interface is more complex by having to use two completely different user interfaces to change the light output, it's not usable as a power bank, and the narrower beam of the IF24 from the top light is not as effective for 90% of common uses (around the home, car, walkways). I see this is a the best all around light...sacrificing some things from each type of flashlight...as is always the case with do-it-all lights. Thanks for watching and commenting! have a great week.

14:26 😂 🤦🏼‍♂️You clearly showed why the 24's interface is superior.. Some of us dont wanna have to click a button a hundred times and memorize a hundred sequences.. The 23's only redeeming features is the larger capacity and power bank feature. But the 24 uses an 18650 which are CR123 interchangable. That's why the light is longer.. And the 24 is definitely superior when I got one for $29.99..
@Realidealgear

The rotating ring is cumbersome. There are only three modes to memories, 1c, 2c, 3c. If that’s hundred times in your mind than I’d hate to hear how using a remote control is handled….which most don’t have any rotating rings, they may have a ring that clicks!!!
@TTime685
@TTime685 17 дней назад
@@Realidealgear You literally screwed up with the 4 presses at 14:26, that means you would have to push it another 3-4 times to get back to that mode again lol.. Instead of just turning a dial. If you think the dial switch is cumbersome then I don't wanna know your definition of cumbersome lol.. It's a much quicker process

The IF24 Pro is even worse than the IF24.
@Realidealgear
@Realidealgear 3 месяца назад
Yes, i and the pro version buck driver keeps the lumen spikes more leveled, if that makes sense. Thereby the drop off is also greatly minimized. I would take the IF24 Pro for that reason over the IF24. If you want a more versatile flashlight, the IF23 is the way to go (power bank alone makes the case). Thanks for watching and commenting.

I own the if23 & if24 pro. I tested them both with molicel batteries (p28a & p45b) & they really are just different. The if23 is a nice floody beam that is very powerful like said in the video. The if24 definitely has more throw, while still having plenty of spill to use up close. The light is much warmer, I’d assume 4500-5000k & it’s very pleasant to look at up close or even down range. Both great lights just completely different uses, I still can’t choose so I have been carrying both for like a month now haha
