Live at The Glastonbury Festival, june 1989 this song first appeared on the "Chains Changed" ep in 1987, which was later rereleased as part of the "In a Doghouse" double cd.
The acoustic version of this on the Live at Maxwell's CD that comes with Red Heaven is absolutely heartbreaking (and yes, it is 'touching like spacemen'!)
Why would anyone "touch life's basement"?? Her husband confirmed YEARS AGO that it's "touching like spacemen." There is no "T" sound at the end of the word. And Kristin sure isn't pretentious and wouldn't use "life's basement." Too lame of a metaphor for such a genius.
So true, yell0wSky. I used to think she was singing: 'Mr. Puberty had a gun in his head' rather than Huberty. it seemed to fit my interpretation of the song, before I heard the backstory.
it is "like spacemen". even Kristin says it is. the lyrics on lyric sites are written by fans, not the artists, and are frequently wrong, especially true with TM lyrics.
i love how Tanya is "wearing" her Fender Strat and not playing it. she must not have found her favorite Gibsons yet. Tanya and Fenders, just doesn't look right.
You are wrong. The version of this on In a Dog House is clear as a bell and it's spacemen, not basement. The version on A Cleaner Light the CD single is equally clear and equally not basement.
