Tom Stanton , hey man good build. So it on flitetest then came here. Instead of props, try using edf. Might be better, more thrust.
@DeadlyDiddly
@DeadlyDiddly 6 лет назад
I think it's begging for a 120mm EDF in the tail so the canard props are mainly just for manoeuvring, but they're rather expensive...

Gentlemen: As a retired aerospace engineer from the U.S. now living in Thailand, I cannot adequately express how satisfying it is to see two young men who are doing something better in life than simply hanging about social media hunting for something to be offended by. I came across Tom's channel while cruising videos on e-bikes, and his stuff directed me here. The short version is that I am sure your families are proud of both of you and you make me feel a little less pessimistic about the future of the species. Keep up the learning and exploring. You obviously enjoy it and it sure beats marathon sessions of GTA5 or WOWC. Great projects and great videos! Frank Freeman

I think that you should make a plane launcher... something like a large crossbow/ballista that has a foot operated trigger so both your hands are on the controller as it launches. It would also look cool next to your trebuchet.

@Andrew-lx4mh
@Andrew-lx4mh 4 года назад
I know I am late to the party, and I am sure this plane is long gone, but the oscillations from the wings are due to the center of gravity being in a neutrally-stable/unstable position. Any perturbations from turbulence and control inputs would cause oscillations with very little damping. To add to the lateral stability, the CG needs to be moved downward and add dihedral. This can be done by mounting the battery in a lower position or shifting the wings up (this is why high-wing configurations are so stable) There's always a drawback, and this case it would be roll speed. But since you're trying a new design, I would prefer stability over maneuverability until the flight controller is tuned. Great video and awesome idea!

Tea goes perfectly with engineering. It's a match made in heaven. I don't know if you are a fan of Colin Furze but he makes a lot of amusing (and frequently downright dangerous) contraptions and also drinks a lot of tea while he is doing it. Guy Martin is also a devotee. It's the true image of British engineering to see a chap in his shed tinkering with stuff with a mug of tea in his hand.

Like many viewers of this excellent video, I´m new to this channel and would like to commend the very high (almost Project Binky - high) degree of acknowledgement of the importance of regular tea consumption which we witnessed here. The idea of compensating for the downthrust generated by the flaps was a long way out of the box, as there´d be little correlation between airflow over (or rather under) the wing and throttle setting. I salute you both for the sheer audacity you displayed in building this model. It does have some astonishing flight characteristics as well as looking absolutely tremendous.

#1- add a fan unit inside the fuselage with air inlet ducts forward of it. #2- make the fuselage smaller in diameter (less drag). #3- make the canards wing shaped. It seems to be underpowered. Great first design. I am from Rockford, IL. USA. GOOD LUCK
