So I was cleaning a warehouse when I came up with an interesting find: Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1 racing wheel! This was my very first racing wheel I bought back in the 90s. Since I was a poor high school student I went for the cheap option - unlike the more expensive Thrustmaster T2, this wheel didn't include pedals but you had to operate the throttle and brake with your hands.
The early Thrustmaster wheels from the mid 90s were famous for their poor quality and after just couple of months of usage I started to get jitters and input spikes. So it was really no surprise that when I plugged in the wheel almost 25 years later.... it didn't work at all. ALL the potentiometers
were broken. Some completely, some partially but none of them were usable.
So with no idea what I was doing I decided to fix it! Nothing to lose huh?
