Excellent review delivered by someone 'oo speaks proper! Looking at other comments, people seem to get stuck on the idea that the frame clamps can only go on the horizontal part of the tube on the carrier. You can also use the vertical part of that structure (good view of it at 2:50) to attach the clamps onto the carrier and clamp the other end to the part of your bike frame that the seatpost inserts into. This is how I have to get two ebikes set up on mine. Admittedly they are both rigid frames, not full sus, so plenty of space to get the clamp on. It works.

I usually take front wheel off and stick bike in back of my boot cover bike with thick cloth. Didn’t fancy getting salt off the road but your set up looks the dogs mods, cool video as always

also saves your back, those EMTB's are hefty and cumbersome to lift and slide in the car boot. I did it with a test bike that my lbs loaned me before I ordered my Trek rail and quickly decided to purchase this Thule. They even sell an accessory roll-on ramp for those with a very sensitive back (electric bikes are quite popular among the senior citizens after all)

I did think that the thule came with a ramp but it is an extra so far not had any problems and I have had a bad previous just make sure to take the battery off before you put the back on the rack

Agreed, guy on EMTB forums, was slagging me off saying they are shite, I am NOT sponsored by anybody I save and buy everything my self. :( one day Cadburys might sponsor me and ill get some chocolate buttons, haibike are not interested, im not young, blonde or can pull a wheelie longer than 10 seconds in fact they ignore me on fb even when i ask a genuine question on their products, I must of said something i shoudlnt of.

Put it in reverse, run over them and squash their ed’s, I find that works quite effectively PMSL. I know what you mean about fear of the bike falling off and mine are worth peanuts in comparison to yours. Only issue with the bike parka is that it seems to completely block your rear view once it’s on (assuming you had any without it). The carrier is the nuts though, another nice review. 👍

Really nice that, then saw cost, was expecting around £200 how far out was I! But, can also see a real benefit to it as well, especially with the fold down option to get in the boot 👍🏼 My plan is hopefully to get a transit this year, handy as a changing room as well 🤣

What I would really like is a 4000W speed pedelec which can do 30mph and licensed as a moped but then have legistlation that allows a power limit option so you can legally ride on trails but that's never going to happen

@@BOTG_Adventures Just compared battery to yours. Yours is 600Wh and this is 1500Wh so 2.5x more capacity But the only reason I could fit such a big battery is that it's a hardtail not a full sus Also mine is 30kg lol

yep i have a older one even thow i could get it in the back of my 4x4 its much better on the Thule dont like the parker thing i think in strong winds it could come off your ball on your car if you where towing should have the paint removed and my one you can ajust the bit that fits the ball make it bigger or smaller good biking

Yes the only point but it is very very strong. A friend of mine put a full double freezer from Currys on the back of one. It attaches very tight and snug no way it can come off.

Me and mate used a tow bar mounted Pendle bike rack for years with no issues, they’re worth looking at too and made in the UK. I’d be interested to know if you’ve ever been stopped because you can’t see out the back with the Parka covering the bike? I’d hope not but, your vision is greatly reduced with it.

Tell us about the towball. We cannot purchase an Easyfold in the US (no stock) however, the European version is available. What size is the towball? We have a 2" ball that is popular in North America (50.8mm). What size does the Thule spec out? Also, does the towball need to be a special height? Does the height of the ball make a difference? It appears that European/UK towballs are taller than North American versions.

The towbar is called a standard version. There is what's called a swanneck that sticks further out from the car depending on your boot ot trunk shape. The ball joint I had on originally didn't work because it was a European one and was worn down. So basically just email these guys and tell them which bike rack you want and they will tell you the exact model you need, hope that helps. www.towbars-leeds.co.uk/

Hi. Just transported my new eBike with this Thule. The guy from the shop suggested not to put to much strain on the clamp cause of carbon damage risk. I don’t have the carbon protector (yet). What happened: the bike fell of on the highway… So did my BPM. Fortunate the straps on the wheels prevented the bike to fall on the road. Still had some minor damage…. So my clamp should always go until you hear the safety click. The downtube survived when I decided to clamp it finally there, but is too big for a carbon frame protector to go in between. Question: do you also put the first clamp in safety click??

Yes I always have the first one on the crossbar until it clicks with the carbon protector adaptor if it's just one bike I also have the second clamp on the pedal this gives it extra security you could also add a chain on there to make sure it doesn't come off but that might be overkill always make sure that they click

Hi, they recommend you take the battery out when transporting your bike, I leave mine in now as its a pain taking it out. if puttin two e bikes on the back yes i would remove the battery, put less stress on the clamp holding it to your car. For one bike I dont remove it.

Excellent video, thanks! I watched it because I have just bought the same Thule rack a month before I finally get the delivery of my much expected Trek Rail EMTB. When I put my regular gravel bike on it I noticed that there aren't many clamping options within reach of the short front slot clamp. You basically HAVE to clamp it to the downtube. Fine with a normal bike but I very much doubt it will clamp on an EMTB's huge downtube. So I was worried until I watched this video where I notice you place your bike in the back slot with the long clamp. Hence my questions: have you tried to put your bike in the front slot? And consequently, do you think it's possible to transport two EMTB's with this rack? And on a side note: doesn't your fuel economy take a big hit riding at highway speeds with that bike parka on it?

I haven't tried to put two bikes on it yet me only having the one. The bike parka, does stop people from seeing what the bike I don't live in the nicest place and have to drive through somewhere even less so hi it's the bike very well it would also slow down somebody trying to take the bag off the back of the lino in traffic, it does blow in the Wind little bit but I haven't really noticed it I've got quite a large vehicle.

I’ve had the three bike version of this carrier for a couple of years, and yes it’s bombproof. I wasn’t aware the clamp could potentially crack a CF frame. I need to buy the protector you use. @@leeds106 Yes just, if you push the front passenger seat forward. But like I say inside gets wrecked with muddy tires on ect. But yes I have had mine in the back, obv easier if you take front wheel off. oh and PS. The sportage is brilliant, very very reliable you will get 250k miles out of it easily. And it runs over chavs heads easily. squash. :P

Lol really? Numberplate was 8 quid and stays on permanent. The power adapter 8 quid. Takes 30 seconds and car remains clean.

What a cracking review, convinced me to hit the button and fork out for one of these... Brilliant video thanks for sharing !! Now just need a car that can take a tow bar !!! Seriously - damaged my Haibike Flyon lifting it back into the back of my Nissan Leaf a few weeks back, they are just too heavy to use the boot and way to heavy to consider boot or roof racks. This is the way to go.

Thanks for the supportive words. I used to put mine in back of car but always hurt my back, and your car gets wrecked inside. Yes they are expensive but this will last years and years.

E just bought one but the thing I Hate is the arms for the top tub don't sit flush with the frame and can't be adjusted for the sloping top tube, it's only holding the frame on the outer edges of the clamps....

Nice one ! As you say..."If ya want something that's good get the best for your major investment ". I threw all the other bike carriers away and got a Thule years ago, mounted on the roof as they didn't do that model back then. I don't bother driving now and just Ee By Gum bike everywhere but my Thule is still with me just in case. As I watched the vid I kept thinking ahead and you said what I was thinking, I always used to put my arm outa the car window and feel if the bike was still there !!! :) Never had to worry, best rack I have ever owned. Keep it up and thanks for the response to my last comment ..... Respect.

Guy on EMTB forums, says they are crap and he has almost lost 2 bikes falling off.. weird, I have had no issues at all.

@@BOTG_Adventures I had a one fall off my roof mounted on once ! But that was down to me not fully tightening the excellent clamp which I find reassuringly good, far superior to any others I've used. Maybe the guy on the forum didn't use the correct procedure ? All down to checking before ya shoot off eh !

The wheels stick out quite a bit 😬😬, could you remove the front wheel and move the bike over to make it so the bike is same width as car.

I'm using Thule Xpress 2 - £78.00 carries my Haibike 4 which is a tad heavier than yours with no problem, again folds out of the boot 3 mins ready to rock - Minus side can't open boot or if your to excited can't close the boot :) - Thul are with out doubt the best, but £600 - Nice vid

I have a pair of Yakima Frontloaders on my car roof. Not cheap but they clamp onto the the front wheel avoiding issues with carbon frames or oversized down tubes. They also look prettycool (like you have skis on your roof) and come with cable locks to prevent opportunistic thieves. Don't get me wrong I like your set up but not being able to see out the back window would do my head in.

Hi... Love your content.... .. I have the AllMtn 7 2021 in Black and exactly the same Thule Easyfold XT2.... I found the best way to attach the Haibike was to remove the Thule Clamps... Then install a standard piece of thick pipe insulation on the black top Thule bar.... lean the Haibike against it with a protective cloth on the main frame then strap the main frame straight to the Thule Top bar (with the foam pipe insulation) using a Thule Heavy duty strap and 4 winds..... Rock solid and no risk of damaging the Carbon frame...cheers, Richard

Just got myself a thule velocompact 925 after doing my shoulder in and no longer being able to lift the bike to the roof. Having a tow mount is much better. Though cause of the angle of my frame getting those arms in place is abit of a pain. Does the job though. Outside of the Thule lock and the parker, do you use anything else to lock the bike? What's the bike stand which you use in the vid? Cheers!

NO as the bike is only for transport. The cover stops scum getting at your bike at traffic lights. Gives you chance to curbstomp them. Bike stand? ya mean work stand?

Aye up nah then lad not a fancy e mountain bike rider like yee lad but an enthusiast and family rider from garforth love to have a ride out round these parts with my daughter just subscribed love your content keep it up would be good to see you do a run over from Leeds dark arches under railway back out towards garforth down the canal you can get through lemmonroyd lock onto st aidens nature reserve it’s outstandingly beautifull and a proper Yorkshiremans pedal as it ends up darn pit

I've been riding this bike for about a month ru-vid.comUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
