Hello! Thanks for the review. How are they going a year on? Im upgrading from my Stoic panniers and am considering the 17l pair of these for some light touring. I am of course considering the usual suspects (ortlieb, Vaude etc), but keep coming back to these for some reason.

I just packed them up for tomorrow :-) I like them still, it is after many rains, and still ok. I use it only for daily rides... (go with car to the start, make the tour , and drive home). am not sure it is common for single day , but one side is rain/warm dresses, other is food, and drone, if I dont need so much space (it is getting warmer here) I use only one. If I need even more I have a top part as well from Basil (Miles Tarpaulin MIK-not really compatible) . I like that it is easy to remove, and I can bring it in a restaurant/shop. The 17 liter should be good as well.

I'm considering these. I'd think they are extremely waterproof for any normal sort of rain, even heavy rain, (similar to ortliebs) but not waterproof if you throw them in a river? They are surely far more waterproof than some splashes.

I agree, i would say it can stand any kind of rain, but no underwater biking :-) I use it for light mountainbike terrains too with a lot of dirt without any issue

Are there shims included for the mounting system? How do the bags ensure a tight fit on the rack? If the rack was thin I'd imagine they flop around.

Not an easy question, I am a single person, not a shop. I use a Thule rack, so it fits "perfectly", but I can imagine it is not working for all racks (my 35 years old one from Czechoslovakia does not fit). I think most of the modern racks it should be ok. The upper fixture can tolerate a little diameter differences. No shims included. I measured my rack, it has a 10mm diameter rod.

@@nuoutdoor Thanks so much for this help! I think I'm going with Ortlieb as they include spacers to ensure a tight fit.

@@user-vi2gu8zi9l I think that is a good choice too( just seen Ortlieb, but never used)! I bought the Thule, because i had 2 Thule racks allready, and I am happy with the easy fit.

I tried both and recommend the Thule, which has a mechanism that will ratchet down onto any diameter. Unless your rack happens to match up with Ortlieb spacers, you can still end up with a loose setup.

Too bad you didn't make an overview shot for a general perspective of the bag size when not folded. Good review anyway.
