Pandit Samaresh Chawdhury is one of the very few distinguished classical vocalists of "Rampur Senia Gharana". Polishyed as it is, his vocal technique is primarily a testament to the rigorous traninig and grooming of his early years. Son of famous "Sangeetacharya" the Late Amaresh Chandra Chawdhury, Samaresh Chawdhury began his early training under the strict supervision of his illastrous father.
Later, he received talim from the Great Maestro Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar Ji, who swiftly recognised his talent and deep commitment to classical music. His ability to bring a refined freshness and spontaneity to "Raagas" and his extraordinary range and control over the octaves stands out for the listeners and critics alike. In the year 2013 he received the prestigious Girija Shankar Award from the State Govt. of West Bengal. (India)
