What an excellent idea, to showcase the possible need for a breakdown truck ! - It would have been amazing publicity for your company, if one of those vehicle owners had broken down there, and needed a tow !

You should take a look at where we live. On RU-vid put in Mersea island Strood. We have a causeway that floods several times a month and the idiots that drive through and get stranded is ridiculous 🤦‍♀️🤣 we have a camera so we can watch the action over there.

I'd do that in my rubbish Freelander. I think Mill Lane, Acton Trussell was deeper today, and even an Aygo made it through that.

People just drive through water like it’s nothing then stuff happens and they’re surprised. Whatever speed you think you should drive through water go even slower and whatever depth you think your car can go through unless it’s purpose built, it’s probably less. Most cars’ wading depth is less than 10” basically if it gets to the engine at all, plus the extra splashing, it might not end well.

I wouldn't be going through. It's not the engine that's the problem, it's everything else. Water getting into electrical connectors, suspension joints, bearings and even gearboxes (those have breathers). Just not worth the few minutes extra it would take to go around.

They get away with it because its only illegal if the blue is reflective. On their vehicles, the yellow is reflective but not the blue.

I think exactly the same thing about Burke Bros when I see them around Stafford. The flooding was awful here on other roads too. Last year our car was scrapped after the power steering was destroyed after driving through a flood on Beaconside.

This was true with drum brakes, I don't know of any modern vehicles with front drums, so not necessary.

When i was taught to drive we were told to approach flood water with caution and proceed slowly to not produce bow waves, not too fast to prevent aquaplaning.

Was always taught not to drive through flood water because you never know whats underneath. Having said that if I was local and knew the road I would chance it.

As a former cocky land rover owner, off road prepared with off road tyre, body lift, snorkel for wading and much more I found out the hard way during a flood. Manhole cover was dislodged and smashed my wheel as I smuggly drove through.

It’s been looked into many times, it’s an impossible job. You’d have thought shell would have moved the forecourt by now though 🤣 the Skoda!! 🤣

I would never no matter what im in drive through any body of water like that whats the point go round a differrent way all it takes is a tea spoon of water in engine hydro lock then the classic try to restart it snap a rod absolutly nuts all they gonna do it get home sit in front of telly go q different way

Cloud seeding pilots are back to work. 2 days ago was clear blue sky hot weather. Did those 2 young lads not hear the flood warnings on the news? But decided to chance it.

It's good getting the bow wave going, however what happens when a car going into the opposite direction also creating a bow wave those waves meet in the middle, is that water still going in the air intakes on both vehicles?

What I find amazing is that no one bothered to check their brakes after driving through the ford, puddle, pond, call it what you will. Though I did think the Renault at 4:46 was going to.

No need with disc brakes. I mean they'll possibly be a bit weak for half a second or so, but not really an issue. Remember, disc brakes are exposed to the weather anyway. If you're in a vintage car with drum brakes, then yes.

@@tin2001 Yes, disc brakes are less susceptible to failure. Nonetheless it is still a good practice to perform to be on the safe side, just in case. Likewise after driving over mud on the road left by agricultural vehicles always test your brakes. Which is another practice I seldom see.
