I just ran across this video. I honestly never ran across your video. I was so happy to see that you didn’t copy what other influencers say about why they like thunders. You had a very different reason why you liked them. Please keep being real, and keep shredding. 👍
I like indys and thunders for different reasons. I feel like indys work slightly better here in the uk because the extra weight helps push through the crust a bit more
I skate the thunder 147 standard polished. What’s interesting is that they are shorter than the 148s and up by a couple millimeters. I think the bushings, truck design, and height of the 147 gives me the most stability without sacrificing turning. I also agree with you that thunders are a nice, handsome looking truck. Love the translucent bushings and trim design.
im really uncertain on wether i should get 147 or 148, i had an 8.125 before and loved it, but i ride 8.25 atm and dont plan on going any bigger, i might go back to 8.125
these are good trucks. They turn and grind really good. But they are no good for nose and tailslides which I haven't really see you do in this video. The baseplate is just so short at the nose and tail end that it makes you stick with your wheel. I rather skate venture for that reason and they are very similar to thunders.
Looking forward to try 8.125 cause 8.25 feels to wide for me and im a size 8 good thing you ride 148's on your 8.125 i dont have to change my trucks size.
Buddy those bolts sticking up the floor on the feet of the bench are no good... You can easily make a big hole in your feet there. Consider sawing it off or find some other bench to skate...
I love thunders but can't seem to prevent the bushings from splitting apart on me so idk what truck to ride cause venture kinda suck and indys are heavy lol idk how you deal with them breaking lmao i notice it immediately they start off good and stable than get wobbly and too lose
It happens to me too, I’m okay with it until it’s becomes squirrelly much further down the line (usually more a result of pivot cup problems way too old trucks at this point anyway). I say buy replacement thunder bushings. They go the distance for me.
I’ve never understood why skaters don’t just use fastenall or any home improvement store for hardware. The stuff at your skate shop is just the same stuff but marked up
@@cwatson42785 it is most certainly not cheaper to buy 8 bolts for $2-5 when you can get an entire box for that price. Fastenall also carries hardened steel, which your skate shop hardware is not made of lol.
Hey man. I have a question as a dad of a nee skater. My 11yr started with a chocolate 8.25 + royal 149s + ricta 56mm. Now I got him Quasi 8.0 + Indy Silver 11s 139 + spirfire f4s 54mm. Is this a good setup for a beginner ? Or is it too high of a skate ?
I think you nailed it. Board brand is cool, trucks are super dependable and correct width, wheels will have a good lifespan without flatspot. That setup is the best foundation and will keep him happy and progressive imo :)
