This video showcases a unique and never-seen-together collection of 1969 era drag racing photographs shot by an teenaged amateur photographer named Phil Smith at the 1969 AHRA Spring Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. Narrated and produced by historian and author Geoff Stunkard, the small collection has never been seen in its entirety before. Included are the Ramchargers front engine Top Fuel Dragster, period funny cars like the Hemi Thrasher, the ex-Richard Petty #43 Jr. Barracuda, the Pandemonium 1969 Barracuda of Bob Sullivan, the Tiger Shark of George Weiler, and Bob Banning's legendary 1968 Dodge Charger. Also seen are the Dick Harrell ZL1 Camamo #1, Jim Minnick's 1969 COPO Camaro (yes, that Minnick - Top Gas racer), Bill Heilsher, and the Kimbell Bros / Bill Allen entry. B-body Mopars like Dick Landy's 1969 Flying Wedge Dodge and Ronnie Sox' 1969 A12 M-code 440-6BBL "Six Pack Road Runner. With an handful others, Stunkard give the history of the track, some of the racers, and even the spectators.
