That is a real jet pack. That jet engine was used later to power Tomahawk cruise missiles. There is a modern version that can be used to transfer a Royal Marine between boat and ship.

My favorite Bond film. This features Connery in his best performance as Bond. Fiona is the crest villain in the series.

Thunderball got a budget of 10 million dollars, so they were able to make these big action scenes! Comparatively, the previous one, Goldfinger, only had a $3 million budget!

I know you were laughing a lot, when the back projection came on during his jetpack ride, but the other shots were actually a stuntman flying with a real jetpack. It only flew for about a minute, but it was really captured in camera.

This is still one of the all time highest grossing Bond movies, if you adjust the box office for inflation. In todays money, they nearly made a billion. Thunderball was at the height of "Bond mania", which would take a toll on Connery soon. He's still very good in this film, but in the next one, you may recognize that he's phoning it in a little. At that point he had gotten sick of all the media attention and being synonymous with this character. Thunderball was certainly a beloved Bond film at the time, but over the years the movie has gotten a bit more blemished in the Bond fan community. Some people criticize the pacing (during some of the underwater scenes in particular), how the plot is structured and Largo as a villain. A pretty unanimous consensus though is, that this is the perfect "vacation Bond". If you just wanna hang out in the Bahamas for an hour and a half with some Bond fun thrown in, this is the one you go to. Also, that was actually Sean Connery with the pools in the shark. There's an anecdote of him filming the scenes where the sharks pass him by in the underwater tunnel. He was behind a wall of glass, but one of the sharks going by nearly shattered it and Connery got really freaked out. He said he had never gotten out of a pool that fast 😂

The glass tunnel they made for Connery to 'hide' behind was not long enough. One shark got on his side - the look Connery gives [ 'Holy Sh*t' ] was for real !!

For the explosion of the yacht/hydrofoil when it hits the reef at the end, SFX coordinator John Stears acquired a supply of liquid rocket fuel through his contacts. The problem was, no one of his crew had ever worked with the stuff so they underestimated the strength and used way too much. The subsequent blast was so powerful that it shattered windows in Bay Street, Nassau, roughly 30 miles away. But his work in this movie earned him the Academy Award...with a bang! 😁 Colonel Jacques Bouvar (the fake widow) is played by Bob Simmons, who was Sean Connery's stunt double and stunt coordinator for almost all Bond movies until 1987. He was also the guy doubling for Connery in the first 3 movies during the "gunbarrel intro". Thunderball was the first time when it was actually Connery doing it.

The Vulcan bomber is still to this day there under water. They sank a full size mock up in to the sea in Nassau. If you Google ‘Thunderball Vulcan bomber under water’ you will see a steel frame which is what is left of it. It’s been there for 58 years

2:00 I don't think chateau-grade french furniture is that flimsy. 😁 4:49 Hey, guys! We're all sitting in ELECTRIC chairs! 🤨 6:47 Even as a 12-year-old watching this in the theater, I wondered why the spine-stretching machine was built with a "Kill Patient" speed. 7:27 That blackmail-her-into-sex scene is scummy, but Ian Fleming was apparently a dirty old man. 7:52 That Fiona Volpe was drop-dead gorgeous, as you will see in a later scene. 16:09 "Highly irregular" which means Q's constipated from jet lag. 24:21 Like how the bullet into Fiona's back goes right between Bond's fingers without injuring them at all.

As Austin Powers/Dr. Evil will no doubt make other brief appearances in these James Bond reaction videos and you seem to like both series of films, I thought I'd mention another classic British 1960s spy film series in case you weren't aware of them that also have connections to both the Austin Powers and James Bond films and that you might want to consider reacting to (or at least watching yourself) - the _Harry Palmer_ series of spy films starring Michael Caine, _The Ipcress File (1965), Funeral in Berlin (1966), and Billion Dollar Brain (1967)._ Caine later returned to the role of Harry Palmer in two more films in the 1990s. Connections: While the Austin Powers films, written by & starring Mike Myers, are obviously a comedy spoof-homage on the James Bond films and character of Bond, the _physical appearance_ of Austin Powers with his horn-rimmed spectacles is actually based on Michael Caine as Harry Palmer. You're no doubt aware that Caine appeared in the last Austin Powers film _Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)_ as Austin Powers' dad. Also, the connection between the first classic 1965 Harry Palmer film music score and the original iconic James Bond theme is the great John Barry who composed them both. Of course Barry also wrote many subsequent Bond film scores after his first (Dr. No, 1962) and was a serially brilliant Oscar winning film music score composer outside of the Bond scores also. Lastly, you'll be getting to the Roger Moore era of Bond fairly soon? - Caine, Connery, and Moore were all good friends. Sadly, only Caine is still with us.

Domino Vitali had one leg longer than the other and walked with a limp. Claudine went back home to do movies and the Directors didn't want her because she'd done Bond. Or maybe it was Daniella Bianchi from From Russia. Largo tortures Domino with a cigarette and ice cubes. But she somehow makes it out and harpoons Largo in the underwater battle when he's strangling Bond.

Unfortunately, they had to have the helmet in the jetpack scene because the stuntman doing the stunt refused to do it without the helmet.

The card game Bond plays for decades is called Baccarat which 6 decks of cards are shuffled together and high card wins (for full rules etc Google search). Great reactions but there was a slip of the tongue regarding the title of the previous Bond movie which was Goldfinger not Goldeneye although that title will come up later during Pierce Bosnan's time portraying Bond. Also when you were previously listing all the actors to play Bond one was missing which is George Lazenby who has only a single credit as Bond to his name.

If you have peacock, check out “sick” it was written by the same man who wrote scream 1,2,&4. So even though it’s a cheaper movie, it’s way better than you would think. - Random fact, the same guy who is writing all these horror and thriller movies is Kevin Williamson, the guy who the tv show Dawson’s creek is based on. Aka Dawson achieved his dream of going to Hollywood and moving scary movies.
