Shame this franchise didn't make it to US TV back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. We would've loved it. And throw in a Gold Key or even DC comic series and some toys (especially with those gizmos and vehicles), it would've been right up there with Superfriends and maybe even He-Man. But, at least it lead to us having Space 1999.

In fact it was exportedcand shown in the US. In fact most people had no idea it was British. The show was made very much with the US market in mind - hence being made in colour and with American accents.

I do love the Thunderbirds Series from the 60s and I also like the first Thunderbirds movie but not too sure about the second movie because there not much rescuing except for the International Rescue team and what's worst during the film scene Alan said to Captain Foster that Marriages are out of the Question which mean that Alan and Tintin will never be married someday💖💍. I mean come on this so unfair on Alan and Tintin because they deserved each other and so do Scot, John, Virgil, Gordon, Brian and Lady Penelope too when they meet someone and fall in love too. Beside the legacy of International Rescue must continue on to the next generation like the Power Rangers for example even though that's slightly different.

Soooo disappointed with the live action film. Great cast, and I have always enjoyed Jonathan Frakes' work as a director, both on TV (mainly Trek related, no surprise) and on the big screen. JF wasn't familiar with Thunderbirds and tried to stay faithful, especially with the onscreen hardware, but the decision to de-age Alan and make him the centre of the movie was bizarre (why is it always about Alan? Poor John never got a look in again). Blowing up Thunderbird 5 (or the monstrosity they called T5) was like blowing up the Enterprise. And NO WAY would Jeff have committed all his adult sons, the entire IR team in effect, to a single dangerous location. Nor would he have gone with them. Penelope and Parker were the best things about the film. Ben Kingsley would have been good as the Hood, if restricted to the "canon" version, not some Matrix/ Crouching Tiger/ Black Widow hybrid. Just my thoughts. I was 9 or 10 when Thunderbirds was first broadcast. It gave me chills. I hadn't seen anything so impressive and memorable since the very first episode of Doctor Who. The theme still gives me goosebumps just thinking of it

My understanding is that after NEW Capt. Scarlet ended, Gerry Anderson was trying to get a CGI version of Thunderbirds going. I heard he did try to get the rights back but died before getting a series done. However, this lead to the creation of the excellent CGI Thunderbirds Are Go series. Is this true? If so, will you cover the series in any way? I would love for you to do a comparison video on how different the two series are (and NOT because one deals with puppets and the other is CGI either).

According to Jamie Anderson, none of the ideas that his father came up with for the Thunderbirds reboot ended up in Thunderbirds are Go. All we know for certain about Gerry Anderson's vision for the Thunderbirds reboot was that he was going to gender-swap two of the Tracy brothers.

The live action film could have been SO much better than it eventually was. It was very apparent that Frakes didn't understand the source material well enough. Silly things crept into it like fake puppet hands with strings in CGI or silly sound effects during fight sequence...I think RR were right not to associate their brand with this film, but I like what they did with the CGI Thunderbirds FAB1 as although it looks like a RR the Grille actually has the IR logo stamped on it yet still looks very much in the spirit of RR. The film was very child friendly plus the inclusion of Fermat (Brains' son) and the fact Allan was much younger than he should have been just so they could work the story around him when it should have been more ensemble. I actually cringed when in the opening moments the narrator said that this fantastical rescue group went by the name of their rescue vehicles the Thunderbirds, almost shouting in the cinema at the screen '..No!, They're called International Rescue'.
@imfsresidentotaku9699
@imfsresidentotaku9699 Год назад
Then you cringed in vain, because right before that line, the narrator clearly states, "In a secret island in the South Pacific, the courageous Tracy family runs an organization called INTERNATIONAL RESCUE," then adds that "they go by the name they gave their incredible machines: the Thunderbirds," "they" referring to the pilots. In other words, the movie did what you asked for, yet you ignored it just to make a complaint. This is blatant scene manipulation. Even if the pilots never referred to themselves as the Thunderbirds in the original series, this is just the movie harmlessly taking liberties with the source material and possibly finding a way to drop the title, leading into the title sequence. No need to be a purist about it.
