Wow! That had a lot of interesting eggs in it. I loved the clump of a bunch of eggs. The cut version was really pretty interesting and quite pretty. And your right, the rhyolite in them can be really pretty to. As with many thundereggs, the rhyolite is beautiful colors or textures within the eggs, that is beautiful as long as is not crumbly and decomposed. The other one the double or triple one was cool, and yeah, the last one with the huge common opal center was the best. But only because it was a good complete egg of a decent size. That one with the yellow orange agate center, that half broke out, was cool too. Succor creek beds can really very in their quality of eggs. Some beds have really nicely formed eggs, but at least half of them turn out to be just rhyolite, which isnt bad. They rhyolite is pretty! Thank you for sharing and highlighting Oregon eggs!
Succor Creek is one of the more beautiful places we have been. Too bad you got rained on. We ran into a lot of junk eggs too, but when they're good they're great.
Perhaps the rain helped you out some, it seems like you did far better there than most people. Often I think that location just produces junky eggs. 16:50 That's a keeper!
The rain definitely didn't hurt. I had quite a few other good eggs but some of them ended up accidentally heat treated. Video to come. I'll go back for sure.
Probably easiest to take 20 over through vale and drop down through Adrian but you can go down through Jordan Valley and come up too. Google will get you to the campground pretty reliably.
