1:35 A tip, the broken Plane-wing thats visible underneath the Tallneck is the ultimate cheesing method for this Thunderjaw. Go behind it as cover and the Thunderjaw will not go over, around or anything like that, and the wing is indestructuble. Took down and Apex and several normal ones at level 15 or so with that method lol
Absolutely! After the Stormbird I’m going to focus back on new machines, but plan on revisiting machines like the Scorcher and Fire/Frostclaws in the future as well
The Thunderjaw by the lake can actually be seen just appearing in the mountains about 10 minutes after you take it down. Once it appears it will immediately head down to the lake and patrol around the ruins where a Greenshine Chunk is.
Awesome video! I'm glad the Thunderjaw returned in HFW. I got surprised by the one near the lake as it charged out through the trees, it wasn't a marked site. It was a level 48 Apex as well, and I ended up fighting it and won. Very fun. Can't wait for the Stormbird! :)
Update on that Lake Thunderjaw spot. Now it appears to only spawn Apex versions of it, and consistently. You can also cheese them with Stagger Triplines.
This needs much more exposure! Good luck with your channel, this was a great video! Would be nice to hear some more of your personal opinions or comments when you’re going over various topics, for example, favorite component farming methods, combat styles, a fun tip here and there. But maybe this concise format is what you’re going for, which is great as it is anyway.

The Thunderjaw/Tremortusk/Skydrifter trio actually respawned for me in my first playthrough. I thought it was normal so I was confused when they were gone the second time I played xD
Maybe I'm wrong, but when you complete the game there are a lot of thunderjaw points, which they take down just when we arrive, which could mean that they are becoming obsolete and will probably be replaced by slaughterspines.

I think you missed a site at the raintrace that was near a rebel camp the one that had that village taken over it had the highest level of the other camps. And bare in mind that site also has a recurring script where rebels will salvage a downed thunderjaw.
Love the Machine Spotlights! I do wish they kinda changed the Thunderjaw or some elemental variants. Once you shoot off all the weapons (that can be detached) its not really a challenge but more a test of endurance. Still cool tho
Agreed! It’s pretty hard to get those darn rapid fire cannons off though. I definitely feel like they have something planned for the Thunderjaw in the DLC since there’s so many missing assets for it - like the antenna and glowblast canisters

I used to avoid fighting the thunderjaw in zero dawn till in level 40 I defeated it for the first time with banuk weapons🙃 but now in forbidden West I always fight it for extra loot and shards and found out that it's way more fun and easier Edit: I defeated the thunderjaw in level 24 in forbidden west
For anyone struggling with Thunderjaws, use acid traps (advanced or higher preferrable) they deal greay damage to the machine. Also target their two disc launchers and then use the weapon to feal massive damage to them. I easily cheese Thunderjaws like this

In the section called combat there 1 more attack you haven’t mentioned NoxiousAsp it’s similar to the lasers the Thunderjaw shoots 1 energy like pulse shaped like a sphere
After playing HFW, I think if I come back to HZD things will be a breeze. The machines in HFW never seem to sit still, and they will do the stupidest things to not expose their weak points, mainly by always trying to face us (and of course to always be on the move). The first time I hunt a HFW thunderjaw, I realized how hard it is to hit the heart because it's only exposed for about 1/4 seconds when it's turning towards or away from us. It'll even walk BACKWARDS to us to make sure it's not showing that heart. That's just stupid, but it made me think about how it's probably the dev's brilliant research of making Hephaestus learn from real predators who would "circle" their opponents in a fight, exposing their sides. ps: I find myself not enjoying using ropecasters in HFW because it behaves differently from HZD, so a tied up thunderjaw was never an option for me as a strategy to go after the heart.
ye the thunderjaw, u can die to it if ur not careful but slaugterspine beats it, and there is a change in the original it has no weakness and in the new one it has acid and purgewater and old one has shock resistance and new one has shock + frost and need a fireclaw one too and the disc launcher got nerfed too, in the old it has 8-10 ammo and now it only has 4

It would destroy a tideripper no contest. However the slaughtesspine is a different story between its tail and charging attack I feel like the slaughtesspine would win. No spoilers for those who already gone through dlc. It would beat a slitherfang too.
You missed one site but it’s very easy to miss and it’s a bit weird I’ll explain why So the location it’s in the jungle near the rebel camp and bristle back site next to the desert Now this is the weird part it disappears constantly and sometimes reveals are there or come To be honest I’m not a fan of all these unmarked sites in the game Edit: correction it’s an outpost not a camp the site is just above the bristle backs north of Fenrise
Glad you asked! After spending quite some time trying to figure out a good strategy while making the video, I found that they were better off left alone 🤣 I tried so many different ways to expose them with no luck…
@@unknown_2552 I was finally able to do it by overriding the one south of scalding spear. Then stand on the plane (or anywhere high up) and use tear blast arrows to remove the two covers and fire down into the glowblast canisters (they don’t rise up like other machine canisters). These are near impossible to hit any other way, as without the override, it will will rarely ever face away from you. Maybe if you could stagger him onto his side, then it’d be practical in combat but as it is I’d say no way.

Quite honestly, I really avoid Thunderjaws. Unless I have to. They are literally the hardest machine I've fought in either horizon game. The mammoth one was pretty hard too. But I despise fighting thunderjaws
Tremortusk Is Not That Slow, Only Slitherfang And A Stormbird Can Beat Thunderjaw (Thunderjaw In Forbidden West Are More Aggro And They Can Use Their Weapons Alot That Can Blew Away Fireclaw's Weakspots And Fireclaws Have No Chance)
I’m not 100% sure, but I’m starting to think the antenna is a mission-specific attachment. As in it only shows up on a specific mission-related Thunderjaw
