Welcome to the Rock Newman Show 2.0! Today, we have some exceptional guests from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund's Teacher Quality and Retention Program (TQRP). This program has been doing remarkable work by providing top-notch training and mentoring to aspiring, pre-service, and new teachers from publicly-supported HBCUs and PBIs all across the nation.
TQRP's journey began with insights from a 2006 Gates School Reform grant and further developed through the Teacher Prep Program Pilot in 2008. Now, it stands as a robust, research-based initiative that has made a significant impact on over 600 Program Fellows in the last decade. These fellows represent 20 different states and 45 TMCF member-schools, and they've made a profound difference in the lives of over 31,000 K-12 students in high-need urban and rural areas throughout the country.
Let's introduce our esteemed guests who are joining us today. First, we have Moseka Medlock, a Programs Director for Thurgood Marshall College Fund, who has played a pivotal role in driving the success of the Teacher Quality and Retention Program.
Next, we are honored to have Dr. William Blake, the Director of School Redesign XQ at DCPS (DC Public Schools), who hails from the DC area and brings valuable expertise and insights to the conversation.
We are also joined by Alyssa Carter, a phenomenal 1st-grade teacher at W.G. Nunn Elementary. Her dedication and passion for teaching have earned her the prestigious title of Teacher of the Year for Valdosta City Schools.
Last but not least, we have Kendrick Claxton, an inspiring 9th-grade World History Teacher. Kendrick's outstanding efforts in the classroom have earned him the well-deserved recognition of Teacher of the Year for Kansas City Public Schools.
Today's episode is all about celebrating the educators who have the incredible ability to shape young minds, minds that will undoubtedly go on to impact the world. As we delve into their experiences, stories, and the impact they've made, we'll come to understand why teachers are truly our greatest asset. So, let's dive in and learn from these remarkable individuals who are shaping the future, one student at a time.

Good afternoon, Mr. Newman. Do you interview incarcerated people? There is someone I think you should consider interviewing to shed light on his case.
