Thurmond Depot/Ghost Town (part of the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve) - WV 

located in West Virginia, Thurmond is a once bustling coal-driven train town
it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places, & is part of the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve
untouched by modern development, the buildings that used to be full currently sit vacant along the still active train tracks
Thurmond is now a near ghost town, but only near, since 4 people supposedly still reside there
for those who recognise some of the scenery shown in this video - the 1987 movie Matewan was filmed here
