Wow...it's sometime around that time we called 'the summer of love." I met some very fine people and we played this album all the time, and we loved its peace and we loved Joe's message. It was insulation from the world...we knew that, and once we got sucked into the world we would have to say goodbye to this type of music but at least we wouldn't forget.
This is tremendous - your slideshow does the music full justice, capturing a time perfectly. I was 13 when this came out. I loved it then, and I love it now...Thank you.
I wish I was "Alive" back then instead of being a toddler. I loved that era,... Monterey Pop... Dan Gurney... Jim Clark... The Monkeys... and time on a California beach without it be over-consumed with people & the pollution they bring... May God forgive us for this mess....
Wow. Oooo man I had forgotten about this. 16 yrs old. Skipping school, spending all day smokin hash and listening to this! Wish I had some hash now, Id smoke it and turn this up. Guess Ill just turn this up...gone fishn again
John Peel played Eastern jam about a 100 times as his closing music when he was a DJ on a pirate ship... tii right, one of the greatest tunes ever, and perfect after the simply gorgeous Thursday. In fact this, the second Country Joe and the fish album was the quintessential acid album. Simply wonderful.
Eastern Jam is a masterpiece...I grew up in the 80s and 90d...my mom actually turned me on to the SF bands...from 2001 to 2005 my band Tilt A Whirl drew heavily from these bands...in fact...we did covers of both Eastern Jam and Creams Born under a bad sign
My friends call me the greatest dutch cj&f fan , they promised me that they will turn the whole electric music record on my funural very load , and thursday and eastern jam wil, be the climax ! Thanks friends

@Tornfreedom lol, yes, the pic was based on DP Gumby, the guy's name is Rick Wright and the photo was taken in a basement flat at Ladywell, SE London. Would loved to have seen Country Joe at Ryde Pier, only act I've ever seen at that venue was The Motors in '78 when I was was working there for a few weeks at GEC Electric. Glad you like CJ's music, be well.

Take care and glad to chat to folk who loike what i like !
The guy at 3:50 is one D.P.Gumby "My Brain Hurts", a creation of Monty Python, if I'm not mistaken.Or my schoolfriend Chris Booth?.These shots are Olde England (UK).I saw C.J.&Fish @ Ryde Town Hall about 8 years back; didn't know what to expect but was completely Blown Away.So much, I bought 2 CD's on the way out and I didn't have a CD Player!.Got one next day and was blown away again. Found their music Bizarre, but eminently listenable and entertaining. And I thought he resembled Jerry Springer
