Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Levi is currently working on his PhD in tropical meteorology at Florida State University, and completed his bachelors degree in applied physics with a concentration in atmospheric physics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Wonderful video. But heartbreaking to that that after the nightmare of Irma, Jose could pose a threat to the leeward islands. *PLEASE* Don't wait, evacuate, take your pets, help those who cannot evac on their own, friends, family, the elderly or frail. And *please* offer kind thoughts / positive energy for those of us in the path of Irma.

Just passed by us in the Dominican Republic and we were spared the very worst of the capabilities. I pray that those still in the path will be protected, too.

Woow i am kinda getting lucky i hope those who get hit by the storm are ok but i said i am getting lucky because if harvey went north and katia i would have to either evacuate or get prepared for it because i live in texas but central texas and i used to visit houston all the time last summer it took a couple of hours to drive there but i mostly went to galveston

Anyone else notice the upper-level low (ULL) just west/southwest of Irma? What impacts will it have? I'm guessing none since it wasn't mentioned. Irma is going to produce a LOT of tornadoes, too! Also, the Great Smoky Mountains will lose a ton of trees on the highest peaks. Devastating for leaf season as well. Ugh!
