Very exciting to hear about big, slow foils as they would be perfect for lakes. Right now my main dw foil is the axis-1401, but sometimes its just to quick.
I want to see foiling in the worst places not the best. Tiny waves or bumps, exploring up a river maybe and lakes would be cool too. We used to DW Lake Burliegh Griffin on our 14s. Would be epic on a foil I reckon
Tour de foil. Question would be how to make it interesting across the days. I reckon it needs to be a team event to make it a bit more dynamic. Imagine a sprint finish with team lead outs towing a sprinter who is on a faster foil. There are a bunch of interesting tactics - Drafting, Crosswinds, Sprint trains, Time cuts etc Obviously a bit of a long way from assembling teams, but I agree that stage racing is more interesting, and think teams might be a natural progression.
I like the ideas but drafting doesn't really work which makes lead outs, sprint trains and teams almost useless. The vortices from a foil actually create a lot of instability which makes it harder.
@@jamescasey7393 yeah I know I'm projecting like 20 years into the future. If geese and planes can draft them I'm sure we will eventually figure it out
@@jamescasey7393 what about doing an actual rope tow of the faster guy in any case I totally agree with you, multi-day events is way more interesting than short pump races. Logistics a hassle for organisers I guess
@@jamescasey7393 I wonder if it would work? Our runs are too chaotic, but could be cool if someone heavier with a big foil tows someone lightweight and slingshots them at the sprint! This could be more interesting for the pump days, like if a race has to run in under 10 knots, make it a team pump race and allow people to get creative in how they operate, but make it the median time of the team so that it forces them to do interesting stuff
