On another sunny summers day the Thursford annual Steam Gala Day took place at Thursford Museum as I paid my first visit and had an amazing day.
There really was so much going on with steam engines, classic cars, buses, army and agricultural vehicles, wurlitzers shows and a minature train. With mechanical organs, vintage fun fair rides and a grand parade this was an event for all the family to enjoy.
The film starts with a classic bus arriving and a look at the vehicles on display outside and inside the museum. Also I take a look at some of the indoor fairground rides and exhibits and organs on display. There is a 90 year wurlitzer being played by Robert Wolfe before it is time for the grand parade of steam engines and classic buses which feature in the second half of the film. I wasn't able to stay for the Spitfire flypast so cannot confirm if it actually did take place because of the windy conditions.

Way back in the 70's I remember seeing a tiny wooden sign in the grass verge on the way to Cromer which said simply 'ORGANS' - out of curiousity we followed to this small shed filled with steam engines and organs - Thursford in its infancy but still magical even then. To have watched it grow, entertain and educate the thousands upon thousands who must have ventured to this amazing place is credit to the Mr Cushing and his family who have created this amazing place.

i commented on this gala on another channel . he showed the interior of the museum and i am glad that this gentleman had the fortitude of collecting when he did. we may have to go back to those machines someday. i also liked the value added vechicles as well. also loved the music machines .
