Powerful sounds like these have always been something fascinating and stimulating to me and my senses. I've seen so many people say they were terrified of it as kids, but I always awaited the THX introductions with great anticipation whenever starting a movie.
Fun fact for those that wish to check (like I did): If you own a 2003 DVD copy of Finding Nemo, and play the movie off of disc two, it plays the first Tex trailer. But the team at Disney didn't edit the trailer in any way from the theatrical print of the trailer, so it still has the byline of "Sound System" along the bottom of the logo. I never realized it as a kid, but in watching it again I noticed it and found it interesting.
And what's also interesting that they had two different THX trailers for each disc, one trailer with the cow can for disc 1 and Tex repairing the THX logo for disc 2.
Is it really a mistake?? I always thought it was more of a generalization of THX as a subsidiary Sound System company of Lucasfilm rather than the exact system producing the cinema sound.. my Cars DVD from 2006 has the same trailer with the same byline at the bottom that’s why I’m curious
11:19 pretty rare variant. It's on True Lies and Stargate Laserdiscs but not even all copies. It's really rare, and there's an isolated version without Dolby train at first. I have that sound.
@Hannah Shaw thanks :) I don't think I've heard people comment on it haha (it's Grievous from Battlefront II in front of Tex 2 moo can but I'm sure you can tell that) might do a video based on it 😂
@@theamazingkaleb3077 The THX? No Well, maybe just a little (It’s only because I can’t stand the sound of static much) Edit: the Genesis opening for THX looks super cool and it sounds perfect
THX has been established great ultra sound speakers even remastering movies for decades even it’s celebrating the 40th Anniversary since 1983. Wow, what an accomplishment in sound. Great job, Lucasfilm.
They say THX gives you the feeling of satisfaction. And it starts out so mysterious like it's floating in space and when the deep note rises, it all comes together and then when it's at its peak, you get that happy feeling of satisfaction! That's how I am! And that's why I find this logo's history to be so stunningly, incredibly beautiful! Making movies come alive for almost 40 years now! 12:14 This specific logo at max volume in my earplugs gives me so much happiness!!! (You guys might think I'm crazy.)
@@ameliaphelps9658 that's ok. I was like that when I was little, then suddenly I just found it so satisfying. I first saw the cavalcade logo on my copy of the incredibles 2004 DVD and that was the first one I remember seeing in forever. That's how my satisfaction with thx started. It's actually gonna turn 40 this coming May
I already had anxiety surrounding the THX logo showing up on my TV screen while my TV was turned off or unplugged, but upon learning that Dell PCs could be THX certified, the anxiety went to turned-off laptops as well.
Fun Fact: there actually was supposedly a grand Laserdisc variant but never actually used. I've seen an image of it, but it looks really grainy so idk if it's even real
If the THX Grand laserdisc variant was used, then it would have been in the Jurassic Park laserdisc. You know, because the Grand trailer was used when Jurassic Park was released in theaters.
@@cesarsmediaclubhouse2008 idk about that. I mean, Alien Resurrection for example had Tex 2 moo can in theaters but all it's LaserDisc, VHS, and DVD releases have thx Broadway on them instead
If Dolby is all around us, then Razer should recognize this and have THX partner with them again. Would increase the popularity of THX and would make for some interesting trailers. The THX logo, with the tagline, "If It's Dolby, Then the Audience Will Listen", and the Double-D design tucked in there for extra measure, would make for some visually appealing chills, if the Deep Note wasn't enough.
48:50 how in the world could anyone manage to capture a THX trailer, something made to represent the highest quality visual and audio experience known to man, and make it the crustiest thing imaginable
I mean, I already understood it's supposed to sound normal. I just don't know how it ended up being uploaded in such terrible quality, or if the low quality version of that trailer exists outside of this compilation
@@evankrauss4 it's gonna be a while though. They mainly do 35mm , and the original Cimmaron is 70mm which needs a different scanner from 35 so it's gonna be a while
Thanks George Lucas for scaring the living hell out of most people with the THX sound. No, but seriously, this changed the audio quality in films. For the better.
This is gonna sound extremely dumb but when i was ages 3-7, i was terrified of the THX logo to the point where i thought if you didnt run away and hide under/behind something, then you’d get shot thru the TV and die. I remember having friends over and convinced everyone of this and so when we put a movie on, everyone bolts in different directions. I only stopped believing this after my babysitter had to prove to my brother and i that if she stayed in front of the TV, that she wouldnt get shot (obviously).
It's very loud, I heard that version on an old VHS of Dinosaur and I believe I screamed and pissed my pants (I was 2 at the time, so that's the response one would expect from a kid)
I did when i was like 6 and while frantically diving under the train table, i hit my head really hard on the bottom side of the tabletop and it was sore for a few days after that lol
Broadway 2000 is the name of that trailer. Was used in the 2003 DVDs of the Indiana Jones movies as you said, but was initially for the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
It's said that it has appeared in the DVD version of The Matrix, but even the CLG Wiki disproved that quickly stating that it was fake, and was not seen on The Matrix as that movie was not THX Certified, the LaserDisc version of Tex was believed to be fake for years until youtubers did LaserDisc openings of the film proving that it does exist, and is the only LaserDisc version to have Tex.
So this will sound weird but apparently there were two videogames that has the THX trailer for some unknown reason: one of the Soul Calibur games and Scarface:The World Is Yours.
In fact, None of this is accuate! The Simpsons version should be on here, and it's right after Grand, it ain't fake, Tex 3: Action is missing completely, Bounty is nowhere to be seen, Sphere isn't around at all, and Musical Wisps is lost! And there are 2 logos that are placed in the extra section, the Horton one and the Shrek one, the Broadway 3D logo is it's own logo itself despite having the Broadway name in it and it's somehow shoved with Broadway, they are part of the history right, this person isn't following what the CLG Wiki is saying about the logo, it's completely inaccuate!
@@ChaseMC215 I think the reason why the Simpsons trailer isn’t on there was because Evan didn’t like the trailer for it joke which I can relate as I have a friend in real life that keeps on quoting Gordon Ramsay “Beautiful” line on so many topics that it made me wish I can strangle him, the only thing keeping me from doing that is that he lives in Massachusetts & I live in Louisiana, as for Tex 3 I think may have never shown up in a film regardless of release (but that’s my theory anyways), for Bounty according to the THX wiki says that “Bounty was a trailer aired once in 2003 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of THX being founded.” It also states that very few videos of the real deal are on the internet, for Sphere, my guess is that it was a audio demo & not an official trailer & if that’s the case the MKZ demo would be on the same boat, Musical Wisps is due to it being a canceled trailer brought back to the light of the internet, for all we know there could be more out there that weren’t so lucky to be discovered, or are lost to time entirely, & starting point of the conversation the French trailers, my guess is that it’s for trailers that were either available worldwide or only in the US & as such the French trailers were outed which disappointed me, and I agree on your statement on the Broadway 3D trailer being it’s own trailer, and what makes it different then the original Broadway other then the trailer itself, was that it was only available via demo discs, on Horton I couldn’t find anything online & Shrek they were never released as I found out online via the Los Angles Times, which I found to be incredibly odd as I thought the trailer was only available in theaters, but was completed before being pulled out by Disney themselves, which was unfortunate, so over all there’s much to talk about in these inaccuracies, but I believe these are his reasons why they are the way they are, now any other questions?
@@Crepuaculum Tex 3 was in a film.... it was District B13, THX Shrek was on a original international release of the film on DVD, Horton was used for Horton Hears A Who... In the theaters
@@ChaseMC215 I guess Tex 3 by technicality is a French trailer, neet, for Shrek is it for all countries that had the dvd or is it one specific country, & Horton I don’t know why I connect two & two together, but regardless this is some interesting information, on the three trailers, thanks 😃👍
