Here are the titles of the songs in English (I'm sure Tamás will post some official English lyrics soon as well) 00:00 - Szarvas - Deer 05:40 - Köszöntsd a hajnalt - Welcome the dawn 10:05 - Gömböc - [A diminutive form of gömb ("sphere" in Hungarian). The word gömböc referred originally to a sausage-like food: seasoned pork filled in pig-stomach, similar to haggis. However, one well-known Hungarian folk tale, "A kis gömböc", is about an anthropomorphic gömböc that swallows several people whole -- every Hungarian who hears the word gömböc thinks of this tale in the first place. Also, Gömböc is the name of a convex three-dimensional homogeneous body that, when resting on a flat surface, has just one stable and one unstable point of equilibrium. Its existence was proven in 2006 by the Hungarian scientists Gábor Domokos and Péter Várkonyi, who named the object after the folk tale "character" mentioned above. (I think this might be an important connection to the song too, since geometry and science are some of the most important themes of Thy Catafalque.)] 15:10 - Az energiamegmaradás törvénye - The law of conservation of energy 22:02 - Móló - Pier 32:07 - A kupolaváros titka - The secret of the dome town/city 35:25 - Kiscsikó (Irénke dala) - Little foal (Song of Irénke) 39:12 - Piros-sárga - Red-yellow 44:18 - Vadak (Az átváltozás rítusai) - Savages/Fierce ones/Wildes (The rites of metamorphosis) [Could mean either wild animals or savage humans.] 56:45 - Zúzmara - Rime ice
Konnichiwa from Japan! Awesome music but very interesting. I love it. I would call this "Nature Metal"!! I'm so please to have discovered this band before I pass! Horns up!
@@sebastianmetaller456 how Igorrr related to this sentence at all?? :D i accept and know that Igorrr is perfect...but dont need to advertise here below a TC post. (is there anybody who btw dont know that french band ? :D)
@@zoltanlaszloturoczy6935 maybe because im Hungarian, but i know TC before Igorrr. But true what is true, they both unique in their own way, doesn't really need to mix it to the topic :) (funfact: Igorrr came in picture in job in workshop, music played by youtube and autoplay when at point its started to play Igorrr (maybe we started from TC? I'm not sure) it was an instant hit for me and one of my coworker too :) )
I've just recently discovered Thy Catafalque and they quickly became one of my three favourite artists! I've binged the entire discography in one day and put almost every damn song they made into my playlist. I'm very glad for Hungary to be home to such a talented and refined musician. Fond greetings from Austria, dear neighbours!
Tamas Katai is amazing!! He is a multi instrumentalist and breaks all the metal and music boundaries. In his music you can find Black Metal, heavy metal, thrash, Doom, folk, classic music, ambient and also some arabian derbake in this álbum. All fitting perfectly. This is insane! He never desappoint us !!!!
Choosing the TC album for today is like opening a wardrobe and pick totally different clothes, which will always match each other and create a unique look. Seriously, in every TC album there are so different genres and approaches but they are always perceived as one "look"! Thanks for another great work, Thy Catafalque!
also, waiting for lyrics to come hungarian is a beautiful language, and I like how it sounds especially in the title track. Would like to know what it is about :D
Greetings from Russia! This music is pure delight! The album is great, I can't stop listening for a month. Mysticism, folklore, space ... everything is very harmonious.
And when one thinks that Tamas couldn't go any further in pushing the boundaries and being one of the most poliedric musicians of our times, Zúzmara comes. Best album of 2021 and probably best Thy Catafalque's album so far. Thank you, really.
My thoughts exactly. I was wondering whether it's a new composition or rework of the old track which I love pretty much. Now it's clear and it's brilliant.
omg, so excited to listen to a new TC record. I wasn't even aware this was coming out. A few minutes in and I'm already sold. Tamás Kátai is a musical genius.
I swear, Tamás takes you on an unknown journey in every album. One album could be black metal related, the next could be doom metal and then other lighter rock with so much ambience in it. Its so strange and yet satisfying.
14:37 Holy shit, I can't believe my ears that there is a breakdown in a Thy Catafalque song. And a nasty heavy one too, with the signature TC-sound, fits perfectly!
@@TriploA14 Thanks! I am familiar with the whole discography, love everything TC has done -- knowing the previous works, I think this is the first TC song to include a breakdown, that's why I'm surprised (in a good way).
Katatonia, Russian Circles, Office of Strategic Influence, Amorphis, Silent Stream of Godless Elegy, Eluveitie, The Tangent ))
When I think that I will no longer be surprised by something related to music, something beautiful appears like O Thy Catafalque. Too wonderful !! Congrats from Brazil!!
WOW , I just heard this for the first time today. Dordedduh blew me away two weeks ago & now I think I have another Album of the year contender !! well done , bloody brilliant, mindscapingly creative and beautiful writing. Im about to become a fan !!
Just realized that in the end of Móló, the quiet spoken lyrics are in russian In case anyone needs: Sa sa sa V lesu begayet lisa Su su su Bylo kholodno v lesu Os' os' os' Na lugu pasyotsia los' Za za za Ukhodi domoi koza Translation: The fox is running in the forest In the forest it was cold The elk is grazing in the meadow Go home, you, goat! (probably referred to the fox)
I was all but resigned to never hearing Tamas really dial up the heaviness or write a long epic again, and was honestly fine with that because both Geometria and Naiv were really good takes on the softer style. And yet here we are, with an album that's the heaviest thing he's written since Meta and still finds time to be super folky in places like the preceding two albums as well. It's the absolute best of both worlds.
The description sums this up eccellently, perfect album, so relaxed and well timed. Their Zapor track from their 2004 album has a special place in my life; I wrote a computer game (still not complete after starting in 2009) - I put Zapor in my game and listened to it a lot beta testing; not commercial game - but hope it will be one day. All artists in game (over 100 of them) are credited 100% for their excellent music. Brill work Thy Catafalque, "mellowly mesmerizing metal", worth buying.
I spent several hours trawling through The Algorithm's discography trying to find the drop at 1:28 before giving up and listening to other things until I finally rediscovered it here. Thy Catafalque and The Algorithm are both very highly energetic in their music.
wowsers, was a big fan of Naiv, also some parts of Geometria and Meta, but this combines all the elements I love (electronic, heavy metal, folk influences) into one big whole! Great album once again!
Én is csöndben ültem utána. Főleg ezzel a Szózat áthallással. Üt.
can u imagine.....had this came out in the 80s , This would be the best metal album on Earth. Better than anyone imo. Musical masterpiece. . Its musically great though. The ideas are fresh & tight. and the drummer is incredible & so is the guitar tone
No drummer is here. It is all a solo project. Sampling and programming. Just like the musical genius M. Suiçmez's brilliant first album Onset of Putrefaction.
