Honestly, don’t get the hate some people are giving it. For a game made by a small indie team, it’s pretty good. Shouldn’t get high expectations with games; that seems to be why so many gamers hate on recent games
Game is floaty, parrry can be inconsistent sometimes and a high parry window trivializes the game. Aside from being extremely short, The content given is lacking, Plague weapons while being a fun concept aren't all that interesting, aside from very few cases you cannot weave Plague weapons with attacks to make combat experience more fulfilling, not to mention the fact they have a cooldown while possibly being slower than just straight up doing what JP did on the video and spam claw. The health mechanic while interesting was badly implemented, Its not an actual threat, just a mild annoyance considered how easy it is to lower their real health bar to 0
@DronesOverTheMoon there's also the fact that the games difficulty balance is pretty out of whack, you can find alot of people leaving reviews on Steam, saying how difficult the first boss was. And while they do probably need to "git guud," even I can admit that after that first boss, the game got really easy. So they literally shot themselves in the foot by making sure such a small percentage of people could actually enjoy their game.
I do really love how most of the boss fights feel like a dance, with Odur and Urd being the most obvious candidates for that description. The game's emphasis on parrying over dodging certainly helps with that.
Its really short, but worth playing. Mortal Shell is another little raw diamond. Steelrising makes fun is only to easy. The best Soulslike of the last Years are The Surge 1 and The Surge 2. Real great Combat System better as Darksouls. Wish you all best Max Max
00:00 Optional Intro Boss 03:05 Odur 05:34 God of the Fools 12:13 Mutated Odur 14:38 The Hanged Queen 17:03 Sound of the Abyss 20:37 Varg 23:37 Urd 26:20 Corvus 29:05 ENDING
First Odur set such a high bar in terms of boss design both in terms of moveset, transition, grabs and visuals that the rest of the game simply couldn't compete. Fools idol, the bat queen, the worm, such a disappointment. Mutated Odur was okay. The rapier lady was cool. Varg was boring, last boss was okay ish.
@@borbende the health bar mechanic definitely favors parrying imo. obviously dodging is also an option, but blocking on the other hand is imo completely useless. unlike any other dark souls game, you cannot block and move or even cancel your block by pressing the dodge button. you basically are stuck blocking until the enemy is done, which means you are always gonna take soem damage. but if you do focus on parry, you can immediately tell that the devs took sekiro as a huge inspiration for the combat.
Good Soulslike Minigame, not as good as Mortal Shell or Steel Rising. But nice to play only a little bit short 6 to max 8 hours. Thank you for the Video Jaba Play
Been a viewer for a while, no shortage of videos that entice me from here. But this, game, seems lackluster. Easy even, for a souls like game. Not in a good way either. Just slash the first bar, claw the second and down goes the boss, deliver a fatal blow and...they get back up. I get second phases and all, but there isn't any changes during the second phase, if at all, just a HP refill. Now I've only played Code Vein twice (once on a laggy computer, once more on a much more smooth run on the Xbox One) but even that has clued me into a challenge. Maybe I'm being too harsh though?
Oh boy! They mimicked FromSoft to the point of putting a horrible gimmick bossfight into their already struggling boss catalog! Oh sorry, TWO horrible gimmick bossfights, and a terrible ending.
Dissapointing game really, wanted to like it but i could just play Sekiro for a more fulfilling experience worth the paycheck. Not good, but could be worse 5/10
