Everyone one loves machine room videos! This is a 1999-2000 installation at a high-rise building in Minneapolis, MN. There are 2 huge gearless motors in this room serving all levels including garage levels and the penthouse (37+ floors). These are pretty quick for 8000lb capacity elevators. 110hp! AC drive, 1200ft/mn, Thyssen TAC 50 controllers, I believe all this is post-Dover but all of the machines still say Dover Elevators on them.

those gear less machines are huge! 100 HP 3P AC motors must draw a ton of current. Bet the machine itself weights over ten tons not counting the weight of the elevator cab, counterweights, and hoist ropes.

Actually it's not, it's another building on the opposite side of downtown 😊

ElevateMN D'oh!! I just released you had the other video of the passenger fleet (presumably from the same bldg.) that I made the same mistake about... I just hadn't seen this video before for some reason. By "other side", I realize you must mean either east or south. East would primarily mean 1960's era apartments (which would be too old) and south would likely be a private condo bldg... in which case, I totally understand why the specifics aren't disclosed. Either way, thanks for another great video.

ElevateMN I guess I was presuming south of 12th St. The bldg. that the Dakota Jazz Club is in isn't tall enough. Perhaps these machines would be enjoying gigantic, digital fish swimming about many stories above Downtown Minneapolis?
