When he said -2, 3 then we want to get a confirmation, because he got those numbers visually (by looking at the graph and counting the short lines). By confirming with the calculator, we can see -2, 3 shown on the graph, because it could have been other numbers. So basically it’s just to make sure by using the calculator itself following the steps.
