Robert, I am returning to college after, nearly, 30 years. Was surprised to learn that scientific calculators still use machine language & are still clunky to use. I thought after all these years the calculators would be more heuristic. I find your videos helpful because you film up close to the device to make sure that I can see what buttons you are pushing. Thank you for the helpful videos. They will help as I sit in a classroom with students young enough to be my children.
OMG!!! You have saved my life again! I hate, hate, hate that TI removed the auto fraction option from the mode menu on the CE. I haven't been able to figure out how to get decimals to manually convert to fractions either, because the fraction option under the math menu doesn't work - ever! I have been carrying around 2 calculators. The CE for graphing, and the Silver simply to convert my decimals to fractions! Whoever made the moronic decision to remove auto fraction, or the ability to convert decimals to fractions on the CE was, well - a moron!
One possible reason is that you may have your calculator mode set to Classic. You need to change this to Mathprint. To change to MATHPRINT, go to Mode by pressing the mode key which is next to the 2nd key. Then on the top of the screen you will see Mathprint and Classic. Highlight Mathprint and then press the enter button on the calculator. To exit out of Mode, Press the 2nd key and the quit key (which is the mode key).
When I use this for complicated fractions, (like 1/x-8), I get the answer then later (the next day or so) if I try to do it and show someone I get the error "no sign change" Ito won't correct. I cleared ram. still won't work I enter the last step of the problem then solve and it fixes it for a day or so then back to the error. Any idea why?
