@@Gashnaw Yeah, she’s got a lot of tech options. Brightspear is one of them. Her deck is built around powering out dragons and dragon tokens, reducing their cost, using Jeddah, Morophon, and stuff like that.
According to lore, Bahamut uses the breath weapon of cold. So he will probably be a snow creature, and blue. But a colorless snow dragon would be optimal. He is a Platinum Dragon. Which usually means the metalic version of white. Platinum or silver would use cold dmg. I want Kord and Pelor, but we essentially have them. Heliod is very Pelor-esque, and Keranos seems like Kord.
@@garrettmartin4750 You're right but I just feel like if Wizards were going to make Bahamut into a Magic card it would be colorless just because it's the opposite of what they've made Tiamat.
You gotta include Atarka in that lineup too. Giving all your beefy dragon’s double strike makes for an easy one-hit elimination of at least one opponent if not all of them
Currently in the process of building and Ur-Dragon deck and this will definitely make it's way in there. Now I need to find some good ways to abuse this 😎
"Goodbye Ur-dragon"... lol, Tiamat is weak compared to (Scion of) The Ur-Dragon. Scion is a literal toolbox, being able to become any dragon you want on a whim for a certain desired effect that turn. Combine Scion with reanimation spells, and you've got yourself quite the deck with all the tutored dragons in the yard to cheat out. The Ur-Dragon makes every single dragon passively 1 cheaper in the command zone, and when he's out and attacking, he guarantees you at least 1 card drawn and a permanent cheated into play. The card draw can vary to a humongous amount, depending on your board of dragons. Merely tutoring 5 big dragons to your hand is pretty mediocre compared to these effects, when most likely you can only cast them next turn and most likely one by one (morophon-scion excluded like Mitch demonstrated)
Yeah this isn't really what id want from a big dragon commander. Getting 5 cards and a huge target on your back feels kinda bad. You'll also spent 4+ turns to even play those dragons.
Having other cards to cheat those dragons in would help with that a bit. Cards like Sneak Attack (especially if you can get Sundial of the Infinite out to exile the sacrifice at end step clause of Sneak Attack), Elvish Piper, or Quicksilver Amulet. The artifacts that reduce the casting cost of chosen creatures (Urza's Incubator and such) would also help.
@@willowisp90 Thats a whole lot of work to help you pop off harder after casting your commander. Your 7mana 5color commander should do a bit of that by itself. Lots of garbage that clogs up your hand if you don't have your commander out.
It's wild to me that Ur-Dragon is more popular than Scion. I know people usually play him as grave recursion but if you look at all the dragon combos you start to realize all you need is your commander + 1 card. Scourge of Valkas + Rite of Replication does 180 damage that can be distributed to every player. Niv-Mizzet + Curiosity outright kills 2 opponents without swinging. you can also throw your Star dragons like Ryusei or Yosei and use Feldon of the Third Path to continuously use their LtB. meanwhile Ur-Dragon just makes dragons 1 less to cast and you can put dragons onto the battlefield if you have them. all for 4 more mana to cast. Thank you for coming to my Ted-Talk
And now for the Dragon god deck I've been wanting. Use this as commander and use the world tree and boom you have all your gods on field. Using a double etb effect card will give you more bang for your buck
Did you see the mana rock land? They made Ursas saga a Enchantment land saga that replaces itself with a mana rock when the saga ends. Its going to be a commander staple
Tiamat is so good, imagine having morophon out casting this for 1 (in an Ur Dragon deck) finding O-Kagachi, Scion, Niv Mizzet, Kologhan and Atarka... drop em all with haste for a total (including Tiamat) of 8 mana
...the Ur-Dragon will forever be my favorite Dragon Tribal commander. He was the first commander deck I bought from someone and currently he’s my favorite deck to play. Sorry Tiamat, you won’t replace my Ur-Dragon.
How did you remember to talk about the lesser of the two Kolaghan cards? Kolaghan Storm's Fury buffs your attacking creatures for each dragon that attacks. If you attack with three dragons that's nine extra damage, if you attack with four dragons that's SIXTEEN extra damage. And it only get's bigger from there if you can keep them on the field.
I have no idea these cards existed but I know each and every card mentioned is almost definitely the price of a full pre-con deck. MUSTN'TSPENDMOREMONEY.
I'm so hyped for the forgotten realms stuff! I dont know if I'll play a lot of them in decks yet but I just want every single card for the aesthetics! Not gonna build this deck though cuz pricey! It looks like a fun deck but way more than I can pay anytime soon.
Frankly, in my eyes, Tiamat is queen of the 99 in a dragon deck, but she can’t compare to the ur-dragon as it’s two main abilities (atleast for me) have come in a lot more useful than scion or tiamat’s abilities alone. My favorite instance of this being, attacking, drawing and putting old nawbone onto the field giving me a crap ton of treasures. Follow that up with a gold span dragon to double my treasures’ mana output and I’ve basically won the game cause unless someone board wipes me, I can just Tiamat a win combo or three to my hand. Usually a dragonlord dramoka (for spell defense on my turn), morophon, scourge of valkes, hellkite charger/karthus, tyrant of jund, and utvara hellkite
Goodbye? No. But She's definitely going in my Ur dragon deck. I mean, I'd be stupid not to. My very first edh deck was Ur Dragon. I could never replace Ur with any other 5 color dragon. (Edit) I really like the morophon angle. With Ur at the helm, everything would be 1 and wubrg less? Yeah, already ordering cards. Thanks Mitch!
Love Tiamat and the Forgotten Realms set is what brought me back to MtG after 20+ years of being away. This video got me excited to create a Dragon tribal deck once I have Tiamat. I was wondering if Morophon's ability would stack if there were another copy on the battlefield; such as Sakashima of a Thousand Faces? If I brought Morophon out in a Tiamat deck, and the used Sakashima to make a copy of Morphon, and chose DRAGON as the creature type for both, would dragons no cost 2W, 2U, 2B, 2R and 2G less to play?
Its certainly a powerful card, no question. And some people will have fun with it. I've just learned that I don't enjoy playing a commander deck with a tutor in the commandzone. Just makes every match seem very similar to me
Welp I need this dragon now. Though I'm keeping Ur-Dragon as my commander. Also she's a god..can't wait to see the other dragon gods if this is the case.
MITCH COVER URZA"S SAGA ITS A LAND THAT TUTORS SOL RING AND MANA CRYPT, any hate piece that's cheap, gives double landfall triggers AS A LAND since it can tutor darksteel citadel, is a creature factory, heck even is great in titania, gitrog, or any colorless, artifact, or crucible of worlds deck, the thing is insane for it's low cost of NO MANA!!!!!! IT EVEN CREATES KARNSTRUCTS, 2!!!!!! (If you activate the land for a 2nd time right before the third saga counter is added).
I've never made a WUBRG deck, but now that I can have one led by Tiamat I might just go for it. Also I love that the chromatic Dragon colors match up with the mana colors, but can't stop laughing about how White dragons are ice but white mana is plains. 10/10
Remember boys dragon queen may powerful, but remember no dumping. The Ur-Dragon is more than a dragon his is every dragon, queens are temporary, Ur Dragon is eternal
No, she'll go into my 99 I don't see her dethroning Urdaddy. Tutoring up 5 dragons to hand is great but drawing x and free perminates to field idk hard to contest with not to mention it's eminence ability.
So wait if tiamet is on the battlefield, can you use mystic reflection targeting her so that any creatures you cast for the rest of that turn enter as tiamets? So then you can get the search for each copy that enters?
Only the first creature you cast enters as a copy of Tiamat. Mystic Reflection says "the next time one or more creatures would enter the battlefield". If you cast them all they don't enter simultanously unlike effects like Living Death.
In the command zone, I feel like Ur-Dragon will still be better. The Eminence alone generates more value over the game, and its attack trigger also draws you cards. That said, it slots in nicely into the 99. Cast Tiamat to tutor some dragons, then put one of them into play with Ur-Dragon's attack trigger.
Only downside is Tiamat is a big warning sign to your opponents that shit is coming down soon. As the only dragon player in my group, my dragon deck has been likened to playing archenemy because once i get going it just becomes a 3v1 to try and keep me in check.
Looks like a good include in the 99, but there's no way Tiamat is taking the top dog spot from the Ur-Dragon. The cost reduction (with Eminence!) for playing any and all Dragon spells is far too powerful to give up, and once you do get your commander out one attack basically means "draw ALL of the cards", including a freecast each turn. Nah, Ur-Dragon is still king.
When I first saw Tiamat, I wasn't wholly impressed; a spendy card that fills up my hand, and has no protecting effects. She's a God, but has nothing of the effects various other gods do, like Indestructible, or Devotion, and none of the elemental defenses She's known for in D&D, but having watched this, I'm a bit more excited. Personally, I don't believe She'll unseat the Ur-Dragon, at least with me. He has Eminence, and I love him for that. He's that bit harder to keep ahead of the Command tax on, but I can more strategically choose when to cast him, and get value out of him even before that. I see Tiamat, in my play group, just getting killed, and until I can afford Her again, getting nothing out of Her. She'll be GREAT in my 99 though, and several other ideas from this video might he tweaking my Dragkn tribal EDH soon. Thanks! A small shame one mentioned Dragon wasn't Skittles. I know lots of people view Skitheryx and Infect like they do Eminence, and I'm in the supportive minority there, but tutoring up Skittles, so it can win the game unexpectedly fast, because 10 poison counters, could be awesome, if not hated.
the first magic cards I ever got aw a fat pack of Dragons of Tarkir (it was a while after it came out so I haven't been playing TOO long. probably about 5-6 years) so this makes me happy. I have never really built a series deck because I would almost entirely do draft but im starting to get interested in this sort of style of deck that isn't competitive but has some thought put into it. I am slightly salty about the fact that I only got 1 dragon in the Tarkir fat pack but I got the m20 fat pack (I know they are called bundles know and have been at that point but idgaf. fat pack sounds better) and got both Nicol-bolas the avenger and Palladia-Mors the ruiner so that's cool.
Get your dragon cards now! This WILL force up prices for the cards that were named here and others. Magda already used a good amount of dragons, so supply will already be limited. You better betcha that Terror of the peaks and Balefire dragon will be among them.
IDK why youtube unsubbed me after being subbed for literal years and watching every video, but I hope this was only a weird case and didn't effect lots of your subs, Mitch.
Hope we get Demogorgan as a sulti commander or grixis commander... I just want to see Ape Demon as a creature type tbh! But it'd be interesting to see what wizards would do with him, gain control of all demons maybe? Indestructible fight commander?
What if you were to add yarok the desicrated into the deck, works with panharmanicon and now you get to search up 15 dragons for a possible game finisher
