As a left winger i find this interview pretty relevant because a lot of young progressives seem to distrust any negative info about china because they are wary of propoganda. It's important to make distinctions between truth and propoganda, and when it comes to superpowers like china, russia and the us they will always spread propoganda about each other while they oppress their own.

People like Zhou are truly heroes. They fought hard for the basic human rights such as freedom of speech in China which is taken for granted in countries like America. He eye-witnessed the ruthless crackdowns of the innocent civilians and the killings of his fellow students by the CCP army, jailed and released, exiled to America and continues to dedicate his life to preserve the memories of the 1989 democracy movement and help like-minded Chinese dissidents who have been persecuted in China and exiled to America after him. He basically sacrificed his entire life for a sacred cause (in a non-religious sense) that he believes in. There are many like Zhou in the USA whose lives are severely scarred or ruined by the Chinese Regime but they continue to fight for the beliefs of democracy.

Just for the questioner to know but I believe his first name is pronounced ‘juo’ at least that’s how I learnt to pronounce the zh in Zhong guo in mandarin class 👍

You’re correct about the pronunciation, but Zhou is in fact his family name, as he still follows Chinese naming conventions.

Being a foreign agent for the Axis Forces, Zhou Fengsuo has the financial support to go everywhere to spy: Hong Kong, Taiwan province, China, Britain, the United States, and Serbia. In Serbia, he observed the Army Barrack. This is only the behavior of a spy about military means, not an ordinary person about political development.

I dislike this kind of interview:how did you feel..., what was it like..., what did you think.... A. Few such questions, OK, but better questions would simply develop his story line: what happened next..., when did this occur..., who did what.... Anyhow, thanks for this opportunity to hear from this important figure.

@sophiemariekung5086
@sophiemariekung5086 4 месяца назад
"Democracy" for the Axis Forces means "regime change" that is, changing normal government to become "a government under Japan's control" because dissatisfied Japan wants global war to alter its territory. So "democracy in Taiwan" ended up with a regime that is against China. Jimmy Lai in Hong Kong is another case in point: "Democracy for regime change with a new regime that is against China".

I was there. As a 12 years old, I witnessed people were running and covered with blood, thousands of bicycles piled up on the streets for months later no one ever came to claim them, a pair of shoes someone placed next to a pool of blood, the circles someone drew around the bullet holes on the wall … I will never forget the loud sound of quietness and the smell of emptiness next morning. Have you ever heard a gun shot in a empty city? It echoed between the buildings, the streets and the trees, you knew everyone were listening, quietly. It was cloudy next day, no one had shadows on the ground. We were all ghosts. During the first class in the morning, on the 4th of June, the morning after the massacre, 1989, our teacher walked into the classroom as usual, but that morning she wore black. When we all stood up and shouted “good morning teacher!” she burst in tears in front of fifty 12 years old, her hands covered her face, I could only see her shaking shoulders. I was unsure how I felt then, but today, I can feel her pain, the kind of pain you could feel when your last hope were killed.

Wasn’t Beijing in curfew? Why would a primary school ( as you were 12) open on June 4th?

I remember that "痛心疾首" (grief and pain) is the first words my teacher wrote in the black board when he walked into the classroom in the first school day after 4 Jun 1989. The class was silent for quite a while... The scene was in Hong Kong.

@@kytan947 Don't remember any curfew, I was too small to pay attention to any government announcement perhaps. I only can remember we went to the school as usual, my mother went out to buy food. She came back and told us the queue was very long, when the tanks passed, people were running away, "but I was not afraid, because I haven't done anything wrong. So I stayed and bought what I wanted." Maybe the long queue could indicate there was some kind of fear of curfew, maybe?

We had friends that thought China was a great country and loved the political system. But in me there was always a feeling of great sorrow for the people, then Tiananmen Square happened and it turned to great horror. I have never trusted China and it is so frightening what it has become. It has been allowed to happen. My prayers are always with the people of China. It is not within their power to make the changes that need to happen. They are too beaten down.

To keep security, all states in the world act in the same manner. The United States has ordered police to crack down on Palestine-Israel protesters on all campuses across the nation. Young students have political ideals but lack information about the linkage between subversive and global politics, so they were used in the case of Hong Kong and Tiananmen.

The more time that passes between now and the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989, the more important it becomes for surviving members of your generation who witnessed this atrocious turning-point in China's history to speak-up again. The CIA first overthrew Iran in 1953 and Guatemala 1954... protests in Hong Kong and Thailand in the 2010s. 1953 Iran and 2019 Hong Kong have stunning similarities-pay newspaper to demonize existing government, hire local thugs to beat up people and break shop windows to create chaos. For 1989 Tiananmen, where did all those people other than Beijing students come from in the first place? Answer: most took trains to arrive from the coastal cities near Taiwan. Who organized that? Who paid for their travel expenses? There were no tourism in China yet and no Hollywood movies, wtf did anyone know about the famous freedom and democracy slogan? Who prepared their banners? Then right after Tiananmen and for 20 years came the famous Falun Cult who had teams of people handing out nicely printed anti China anti Communist Party brochures, at every major airports in the world. Who could have the money and power to do that? Why would other countries allow that? Were they afraid of someone?
