Bob, nice job. Thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of buying a Sovran and you gave me a few additional things to check out. After I pick her up and run her a bit, I will pass on any things I think might be helpful. I will keep an eye on your videos to see when you start the loop. We might even share a drink and some old Army stories. Thank you for you service Colonel.

I love the S2 Yachts. I get to work on them all the time and they are impressive. The new ones are changing the game as they always do. It's going to all outboats now and the performance is amazing plus they are almost done with the non compete contract after the sold pursuit boats. They are about to introduce a line of boats that includes more fishing oriented things. You have a beautiful boat.

On the wiper motor. Parallel story, installed tile in bathroom (home). Later discovers leak in shower pipe. Contractor wanted the break tile to get at pipe. Instead I went through adjoining room drywall, super easy repair. So on to your problem. Fabricate your own access panel in the upper shower wall. Fins a stainless steel “hatch and trim” and flat saw out a section. It is high enough that leakage from shower head would not be a factor, especially if the repair/hatch was done well. I know this was a very general suggestion but in one form or another this is the approach I would take to access the wiper motor. Check the working one and determine pthe exact distances etc. you know measure twice and cut once.

Does the cabin get hot while boat is out of dock? I know there is a a/c for upper cabin but this does not run while underway correct?

I carry a spare compressor for the same reason you were concerned about yours. Mine doesn't come close to running all the time but you can tell that there is a small leak which allows pressure to drop, causing the compressor to kick on. We take are boat to remote locations so this is one of the things I carry a backup for. In the roof are all of the controls for the sunroof, I'm sure that's where the leaks are. It seems every season, the more i use the horn and sunroof, the less leaking there is. I also carry a spare micro switch has caused issues for me because the switch wore down so while the water I had to shim it out a bit. Hose storage has never been a problem for me, I have 350' of chain rode and keep my hose to the starboard side, it's never been an issue. You didn't bring up the ugly, lol, the "art work" Tiara put on the wall downstairs. I printed on wrapped canvas a photo I took in the north channel, removed all of those hideous squares and used 3M mounting strips to put the photo up, it looks MUCH better, IMO. All in all, they're awesome boats. I've been in 6'+ seas taking it to the chin and in 8'-10' following seas after turning south on Lake Michigan after going through the straits of Mackinac. I don't make a habit out of going out in those conditions but she can take it! Cheers.

Hi Geoff, Thanks for the thoughts and feed back. yes...those hideous 'art' pieces will be going. We will put up a family picture. Overall now on our 3rd season, the boat has been great. Replacing the compressor and pressure tank has solved our problems with the horn and sunroof. Glad to hear the boat can take some bigger seas...on the Mississippi, we don't get too much 'big' seas...but we will definitely be experiencing some of those in the future. Stay in touch, love to connect and share problems & solutions with other Tiaras. Bob

@@robertintress2155 thanks for the reply. So just changing the unit out caused it to stop running all the time? I agree, let's stay in touch!

@@geoffwendt9968 Yep, changing the accumulation pressure tank solved the problem. There was corrosion on the fittings off the tank, since replacing the system, everything is working normally. This year the projects we tackled were: fixing the port wiper (elbow joint fell off, so wiper blade no longer did it's job). We had to cut a hole/install an access cover in the master shower/head, it was the only way to access the motor and wiper mechanism! We also had to install new speakers, the original factory speakers were falling apart....literally! I am getting ready to pull the boat and change the IPS drive oil tomorrow...that should be a ton of fun! Other than that, not too much else to complain about. BTW...We REALLY love the vinyl wrap we put on the boat, you can see that in one of the videos we made. Be well, hope to hear from you soon.

Bob, have you taken the wiper blade arm all the way off the wiper motor shaft then turned the motor on to see if the shaft is moving? Our starboard wiper stopped moving and I could hear the motor running. Turned out the wiper arm fits onto a brass tapered motor shaft and someone must have tried to move the wiper arm which stripped the splines off the brass taper. I was able to clean out the shavings then reset the arm into the correct position and tighten the blade back up which "cut" a new bite into the brass motor shaft. I want to believe this was designed to work like this similar to how a shear pin would work on a small outboard motor. Please check it out and let me know what you find.

Hi John, Still working the wiper issue. Have not solved it yet. Will let you know when I do! Hope all is well. Bob

Nice video! Did you ever find the proper breaker switch for the air compressor? I have a similar problem and would like to just turn the compressor off for example while sleeping, it doesn’t come on all the time just enough to bother you LOL. THANKS

Hi Donald, we actually ended up rebuilding the air compressor due to corrosion on the tank and pump. When I did this I had a switch installed in the engine room to isolate the pump and can turn it off. I think it runs on the 12V system on your breaker / electrical panel. But then allot of things are on that breaker so turning it off affects other things. That is the reason for the switch I installed. Hope this helps Bob

Thank you! Can’t wait for boating season to return, it’s cold here in Michigan LOL. That will give me a time though to chase down the air leak. Cheers

I have a 2008 39 Sovran, to stop the air Horn compressor, look at the pop up fuses on the lower side of the helm, see the horn breaker number, then go to the breakers where the battery selectors are and turn off the corresponding breaker.

Hey Ed, we installed a switch on the boat by the compressor that we can turn it off and on before and after operations. That has worked very well.

How has the vinyl wrap held up?
@robertintress2155
@robertintress2155 4 года назад
k00k , after 2 seasons it has done great! I have had to make a small 3 inch oval patch for a spot that was damaged while backing out of our slip, but no other real damage. Patch was easy and is almost invisible, unless you know where it exactly was placed. The other thing we learned, vinyl bumpers will leave scruff marks that are difficult to fully remove. While tied up with some other boater’s, one of them had vinyl bumpers and it left some marks. We have our bumpers in cloth sleeves/covers and have never had a problem. Over time some water spots appear but they are easy to clean off. I would definitely do it all over again if we got a new boat or had to replace this wrap! Thanks for asking
