The village of Eskdalemuir in the east of Dumfries and Galloway contain one of Scotland's most surprising sights - the Tibetan Monastery of Samye Ling. When founded in 1967 it was the first Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the West. In the intervening years it has grown considerably and is known worldwide for its teachings. In this film Ani Lhamo, Assistant to the Abbot describes the history of the Monastery and the beautiful Temple. The Abbot, Lama Yeshe, was also kind enough to provide a short interview. The Monastery is named after the 8th century Samye Monastery in Shannan, Tibet. Samye Ling means the "Place Beyond Conception". For more information go to www.samyeling.org
