I made a tic-tac camera that can be easily taken out and used at any time using a tic-tac case. It's battery operated and charges the battery with wireless charging.

Nice video, and interesting project, thanks for sharing it. It is a pity that LED is active when the SD interface is used, this is a bit of a design flaw on the esp cam in my opinion

Agreed. It seems to have been designed this way due to the lack of GPIO.

This battery 3.7V and 2500mAmp battery doesn't works with any of my ESP32Cam module. I have tried 4 modules from different sources. The video is stable only when provided 5V voltage.

Yes, that's right. A 5v supply is required to get a stable running. This is why I use the charger module in this project.

That's a good question. Yes, it is possible. To do that, you need something to connect to an external network (public IP), not the local network. There are many ways. Among the projects I did, I set up a server on the external network (Google Cloud Platform) so that I could watch the images of ESP32CAM on my phone (LTE). Thanks for sharing, great idea. I'm just wondering.. would it possible to use SD card slot as a heat sink for camera? It seems that metal plate on the back of the camera is not connected and SD card slot seems to be grounded.. So would it be a problem? I see that you put there adhesive or something similar... Currently I'm implementing similar project although without battery, but I was thinking about cooling possibilities... Thanks

I don't think a heatsink over the SD card slot will help much. Honestly, I have no idea. How about attaching it on top of the ESP32 chip on the other side?

My idea was to use SD card slot as a heat sink for camera chip itself. It seems that camera chip seems to be overheating. ESP32 probably don't need a heat sink. I thought it would be quite useful to attach camera chip to SD card slot, so that the slot itself would serve as a heat sink. But I'm not sure if there is any risk of short circuit..

nice little projects, i have 2 questions: - you are storing the file counter on eeprom, i've read that the write cycle of eeprom is very limited (10000 to 100000), do you have any eeprom failure experience with esp32? - which version of core for esp32 you use? the github is on 2.0.0 but the boards manager shows 1.0.6 as last.

In my case, the problematic case was that the stored value could no longer be read due to an overflow of the EEPROM. Other than that there were no problems. The version I'm using is 1.0.6.

I would love to use your project for an ebike rear view camera. Do you have any tips or things you might want to change after making this? Wide angle lens or ND/IR filter?

@@ThatProject I suppose I would use 120 or 160 degree fisheye. I have a few older cellphones I want to make a bike computer with. I could maybe use matter or VLC for video feed. Or a stand alone server. I have three standard esp32 cams but no serial ch340/usb Uart/FTDI yet. Have you ever programmed esp32 with a pi B+?

How long does that 3.7v 150 Mah lipo battery last on continuous playing? How long does it take to recharge after it drains from continuous play? Thank you for your help :)

I was able to use it for about 20 minutes, and I think it was possible to fully charge it with wireless charging for about an hour.

How do you keep the camera from shutting down after a few minutes? I am using 18650 cells with a USB charging/supply board from Alibaba and after a few minutes, the camera shuts down. At first thought, the caerma was overheating but when the camera is plugged into the USB/115VAC wall plug it works flawlessly.

@@ThatProject Connections are OK and the pack works just fine on devices that draw more than the Camera board. I can't find my USB power monitor so can't say what the low current shutdown should be. As far as the board shutting down be normal as you state don't know and is why I was asking the question originally. It would be great if these boards stated they would shut down if the current draw was to low.

What is the back up duration of the battery,how long does the battery work.

As you can see in the video, it uses a very small capacity (150mAh) battery. Continuous shooting is possible for about 30 minutes.

Of course, if you continue shooting, it will heat up. However, there were no overheating issues. I think a lot of people want me to test for temperature issues with ov2640 and ov5640. I'll try it sooner or later.
