Note the promo for Benson reruns @ 11:30 PM...during that time, WMAR was one of very few NBC affiliates not to carry The Tonight Show (which instead aired on then-indie WBFF).
@@MIKECNW WMAR was notorious for preempting network programs...this was the reason for CBS dumping them as an affiliate in 1981, and I suspect they didn't make the Peacock particularly happy after the switch, either.
@ChuckD79 @MIKECNW @AdamJ617 WMAR-TV cleared Carson when they first joined NBC in 1981, but dropped him in '83 in favor of "Thicke of the Night". After that got cancelled a year later, WMAR went with sitcoms. Carson continued on WBFF until they joined Fox in 1986. The other independent in Baltimore, WNUV-TV, then picked up "Tonight". Eventually WMAR cleared the show again around 1990.
@RolloSmokes Thanks for the info...had no idea it took WMAR so long to bring Tonight back (it appears that they did so by summer 1989), and fixed Ch. 45's calls in my above post.
When the people come out in the beginning when they are getting introduced they are not really talking to winky dinky--- it is fake-- pretend-- and in no way would I kiss that nasty fool--- he says the weirdest things to ladies.
