Thom's Tic Tac Dough was ironically all on the subject of Astrology.

Astrology was his category in the match where he won his 8th car.

I believe in Thom’s $312,700 winning, $198K were in cash(including the $36K+ win against another Pete), 8 cars(4 Buick’s and 4 Chevy’s), and a bunch of trips(I believe the most trip was to Hawaii)

I've heard he took none of the 16 trips

@@Eminem200183 He probably opted for the total cash value of those trips towards a new house; as for the cars? Thom gave one to his brother in Honduras; the other seven were traded in for a _real_ car: a Mercedes!

@@joeambrose3260 I don't think he kept any of the cars he won either.

I believe that he actually consulted with Jenny, and they agreed that he could purchase the Mercedes (with the TIC TAC license plate!) by selling seven of the eight cars that he won. One of the cars was gifted to his brother, who was a missionary in Honduras. I remember watching him kill this game when I was 10 years old. He and Alex Trebek did a lot to fuel my love of my trivia. Love this guy!

Champion Thom Mckee wins 8th car & 40th victory defeating challenger Pete Johnson. Now $296,350 thousand dollars in cash & prizes. Plus beats dragon Bonus Game. $50 dollars short of $300k. Keeps on winning making someone else more harder to break the record.

Pete Johnson was very unlucky in his match against Thom. He missed his first three questions, that definitely dug his grave. When you play against Thom at the time in 1980, you better hope he misses the first question at a game, and get him on the defensive.
