Great stuff. It features all of the goodies I know from a program leadership perspective that works for developing groups - energy, fun, strategy and competition. Thanks for sharing.
C’mon. Program leadership perspective goodies? So now a simple game that has long been used by kids for fun has now been broken down into some form of learning tool. Of course it’s a learning tool but it starts out as a game with fun as the objective. You’re making it too complicated
This didn't work in my program, each team just filled up the outside rows (the two outer rows minus the middle row) so neither team challenged the other. It turned into a race to see who could fill up their row first. This looks like a cool game if it works right.
Perhaps try highlighting to the group the tactical advantages of playing different positions or situational decision making. For example, the center circle allows for the most line variations or opting to fill a specific position in retaliation to an opponents move e.g: filling bottom right corner once opposition has filled top right corner will force them into a diagonal or horizontal play. Worked for me is all
The faster group wins. It’s easy :) If one group is obviously slower, they should focus on being smarter then and try to prevent the other team from winning easily, until a chance to turn the game around appears !
They must move something every turn. Once all the bags are on the board it’s all about strategy and paying attention. So eventually someone will be smarter or faster and win the game.
hey, cool idea about connect 4! could you explain how it was played? is it the same as classical connect 4 where you drop the pieces down from the top? and how many laps were ran on average per game? because you said you used a 4x4 grid, while the classical connect 4 uses a much larger grid. you see, i'm conducting a game for a camp and i need the game to last for about 20 minutes for 2 teams of 10 players each without it getting boring. thanks so much for the idea!
It is set up the exact same way as this video except it is 4x4 instead of 3x3. It is about a 5 minute game when you use strategy. Add multiple rounds to make it go longer
Wow great Games. I use them for warm-up my Taekwondo-Kids. I really like the combination of movement and brain activity. This is the very best for martial arts. Thank you for this great inspiration!
I fwd this via email to my son's gym teacher, & she surprised him in gym class telling him what I did, &that they were doing this activity. He said his (3rd grade) class L-O-V-E-D it!
What if one team is much faster than the other? Will the faster team be allowed to make more moves than the slower team or will the fast runners stop and wait for the slower runners? With children you try to make 2 teams of the same level but sometimes children suddenly runs slower or are not interested.
I love this idea. I was thinking that I can use it as a review game. Instead of colored shirts, students can run to get the correct answer (which are color coded by team) and place it into the hula hoop.
Bonjour, je suis journaliste pour France Bleu (l'antenne nationale à Paris). J'aimerais avoir la vraie vidéo, avec le son, et sans la musique. C'est pour parler de votre entrainement dans ma chronique web. Merci!
