Great video and very clear on how tidal power works. With companies like Tesla creating battery packs designed to store large volumes of energy for cities, hopefully that disparity between tide cycles and consumer demand can be resolved.

1MW tidal turbine + a 3MWh battery = a forever constant and consistant 0.5MW output = a pretty solid baseload for the country for other sources to build upon. If I was in charge that's the route I'd be looking into, even if we can only get 20% from that it's still a pretty big baseload to start with. Add in 20% from Nuclear(current + point C) and that's a 40% carbon free baseload.

This video points to the most efficient methods but completely leaves out the option that truely has less wild life impact. Floating buoys rather than propellers.

Thank you for video educational and interpreter , this very helpful in comprehends the theory i learned on campus Tidal power adalah suatu energi yang diperoleh dari pasang dan surutnya air laut.

Would this disrupt marine life?
@_wheat856
@_wheat856 4 года назад
A Nony Mouse probably not. As stated in the video this could only be installed along coastlines. It would also be inefficient to transfer energy from a long distance to a city so it would only be installed in already disrupted areas
@raiyaanj3470
@raiyaanj3470 4 года назад
@@_wheat856 It depends on how fast the 'turbines' are turning. In most instances they turn slow enough so that in a situation where a fish does get stuck it has enough time to swim out as well. Hope that helps.
@Jean-uy4tn
@Jean-uy4tn 4 года назад
Yes.
@gregoryharrison6124
@gregoryharrison6124 4 года назад
The tidal barrage and tidal fence type would probably cause some disruptions, as they would create barriers in the water. The tidal turbine however would not have as big of an impact, as it only blocks small sections. Furthermore, the noise generated by the blades is not a significant amount. Real Engineering made a very good video exploring the use of tidal turbines.

As long as anything touches the ocean, it already disrupts marine life, either with minimal or major disruptions.

A udržíš určitou energii a pak ji sesbíráš s povrchu. Zkus si to ve vaně vpřed tělem hrň vodu a vzad a pak přemýšlej kolik ji potřebuješ na udržení.

Bill Gates and others should look at thermohaline circulation (known as the ocean's conveyor belt) as a long-term solution to producing "continuous" energy since tidal, wind, and solar forces are intermittent. If the oil industry is capable of creating deep platforms along with offshore pump stations than those large companies should be capable of building or designing these offshore turbines.
