I learned a lot from watching this experiment. How many of us use laundry detergent with softener already in the liquid. Since softeners coat the fabric in order to soften it, it makes sense that the stains would be left behind. It's amazing at the amount left behind, though. Even with the additional pod in the washer, a lot was left behind. Thank you for your experiment. I am new to your channel.
I use that dollar tree soap to prewash my fabric for sewing & quilting. Months later the fabric will still smell good. But I’m not trying to get our stains. But it’s a good option honestly. Especially considering it’s a buck & quarter.
Could you do a video on how good it would clean if you mixed a small bottle like the gain of tide and the las awesome detergent together in the las bottle and used that for washing? It could be a great value detergent for 2.50
The water temperature was fine but I expected better cleaning. Usually it's the Sriracha and mustard stains that remain. The grape juice, coffee and chocolate stains are gone. Maybe you're right on the 2 on 1 not cleaning as well. I can't figure out how the conditioner works here as its usually added in the rinse cycle
Right, & I could see them putting less enzymes and surfactants in them to substitute with the fabric softener compounds. I think they formulate it in such a way that allows the fabric softener to somewhat be left behind even after the rinse. It’s not 100% effective but just enough to leave a difference than just using the regular detergent. The chemistry of it all is beyond me.
The LA’s Totally Awesome 2in1 Laundry Detergent plus fabric softener is great WHEN it’s the good formula! I worked for Dollar Tree for several years and found that the manufacturers play “musical quality change” 🤣 and change the formula and scent off and on. You need to smell a few bottles off the shelf and look at the color of the detergent before each time you guy it because you never know what you’re going to get. The good formula is usually a weird purple/brown color but can be a normal nice blue sometimes too, but it has a nice clean & fresh scent. When you spot the good formula, always grab a couple or a few bottles because chances are, the next shipment round will be a batch of the crap quality. The good formula does clean clothes really well though and removes tough odors sometimes better than some of the top, expensive brands. The nice clean scent stays with the clothes through the dryer as well. But again, it’s gotta be the good formula because the crap quality formula is not even worth the money, effort or time.
i use a usb powered washer ,, my go to detergent is FOCA . 2$ a bottle and performance its hands down the best . there are powdered detergents out there just as good and well within a tight budget
From what I've experience. Detergents that have "softeners" included in the bottle clean just about as well as bottle of the barrel detergent. Better off using a regular variant detergent with a softener.
I love how strongly la totally awesome cleans compared to the leading brands,it shows how much money is being wasted/lose washing clothes. I'll choose 1$ detergent over 12$ detergent that does roughly the same job anyday! Thanks for this video Mr.PC
@@thecleanpsychotrisodium phosphate. You don't want that. It will clean alright but has a high pH. Instead you want STPP. Often confused with the other. Sodium Tripolyphosphate. It's way to add phosphate to detergent that has it removed
@@thecleanpsychoTrisodium phosphate. I use TSP in the laundry and dishwasher. No build up or grime in my clothes. No scummy film on my dishes any longer. Works better than citric acid. It was commonly used in detergents for many years. It works brilliantly. STTP is not as effective. It doesn't cut grease and build up as well. It is gelded TSP. The inferior alternative. Explore for your self. It got a bad rap from people claiming it caused algae growth, which on further investigation was not from laundry products and detergents but from commercial farming and fertilizer run off. Do an internet deep dive. Many homesteaders add TSP to their home laundry and dishwasher formulations. Borax, washing soda TSP. You can find recipes online. Even LA's Totally Awesome will work better with a tot of TSP. I used it with LA' s Most with Stain Lifter and TSP in my laundry yesterday. Excellent results.
@@DaveGreg100 ok I’ll look into that. I was aware of Sodium Tripolyphosphate as an ingredient used in some detergent (not most in the US since there’s a restriction on phosphates in laundry detergent here) but I wasn’t aware of Trisodium phosphate. So I’ll take a look into that.
